Default Con rods

Who knows if these con rods are for early or late LT5 engines? They have oil passages, which makes me think they're late design. Is there a market for them?

Mine out of 94 says 10146293SDF9. It may be this rod was manufactured in 93 - definitely later version LT5.
Whether rods were different between 90-92 vs. 93-95, I don't know.

Those are "early" 375hp 89~92 rods. They may be saleable, but not for much value and virtually no market. There were many rods, pistons & liners removed from engines for 368 & up builds & will be more in the future.

Here is a "late" style. Notice the smaller blocks on each side of the pin end and the rod cap. The rods were Lightened as an offset to the heavier piston change in the 93~95 models, along with a lighter, conical end pin.

Thanks greatly. These are from one of Tommy Morrison's ZR-1 racing programs, which would place them in the '90-'92 time frame.

I didn't intend to infer there was any variation in strength between early & late rods, as in fact there is no difference. The difference I referred to is for visual recognition.

It's been said that the stock LT5 rods are good for 1,000hp. Lighter weight is the logic behind replacement with aftermarket.

Just for reference,

Piston w/pin, 375hp, 90~92 - 482 grams
Piston w/pin, 405hp, 93~95 - 506 grams

Connecting Rod w/bolts, 375hp, 90~92 - 822 grams
Connecting Rod w/bolts, 405hp, 93~95 - 778 grams

Piston, Pin & Rod, 375hp, 90~92 - 1304 grams
Piston, Pin & Rod, 405hp, 93~95 - 1284 grams

Overall net weight reduction of 405hp 93~95 = 20grams, 1.5%

Some of my connecting rods don't have oil passages. Would they be pre-production pieces?
