Default Where to get OEM ZR-1 underhood parts that mice chewed on

A fire damaged my house on October 1, so I moved my ZR-1 to a friend's garage. In November, he told me he realized there were some mice in the garage and that he had put out poison. The signs of mice soon disappeared. Well, after taking a good look under the hood, I found some definite rodent damage.

This is a 22,000 mile, '91 ZR-1, that I bought last year. I haven't even had time to get it cleaned up properly. I plan to do that once I replace the damaged parts. I'd like to replace the damaged parts with NOS or reproduction OEM spec parts. Where can I find the parts I need? Thanks for the assistance.

Well.....that is the worst mouse damage I have seen.....and you might be surprised when you remove the Plenum as the mice like under the plenum the best.

I use Decon, and sheets of Bounce work well with 4-6 sheets of Bounce stuffed between the runners of the Plenum.

Jerry's Gaskets is a good place for parts as well as Ebay.

Those Original Plug Wires with LT5 on them will cost you near $300 for NEW.......I would buy used original LT5 Plug wires in your case. Also.......when you remove the Plenum......you have to also remove the Starter and clean the Valley Drain for sure in your case.

Lots of Information in my Signature and in the Sticky above this C4 ZR-1 Discussion section

I recommend getting getting a "Boris" of your own. He is non stop protection, never fails to find mice and curls up in your lap at the end of a tough day. Free at shelters!

While the OEM numbered wires are pricey you can still get the same OEM wires without the numbers new for around $70 a set. The hoses shouldn't be hard to find. Does the car start up,if so a good indication everything under the plenum is still in order but still needs a good inspection.

Default Mice

I was suprised last Fall when I started finding mouse terds on the hood and other sign on the windshield. I took the car cover off and saw that they had gained access to the interior through a window that had been lowered about an inch for ventilation. They had filled the entire center console with dog food they had been taking. Stored a couple of pounds under the passengers seat, and built a huge fur ball nest under the stored second roof. Got that all cleaned and then took it for a short drive to warm it up. Nothing like the smell of hot mouse pee on a hot engine. Could not see any signs of nesting under the plenum or chewed wires or hoses. Just the pee. So we deconed the garage rather heavily, plugged in the mouse electronic devices and seem to have no more problems. Fingers crossed.

Yikes! I'm glad it looks like they didn't do any real damage.

Thanks! It starts and runs with no issues, so warning lights, no indication on gauges that there are any problems.

A few years ago l bought a Nova Convertible that meeses where living in. The first thing I did was gut the interior and scrub the bare floor from the firewall to the back seat bulkhead.

I'm sorry to see this

I just hate mice. They can be very destructive, and I can't figure out why they have to chew on wires ...

I don't think C4 ZR-1s are involved, but during the past ten years or so several automakers have used more biodegradable wiring made from a soy based material that mice and other rodents love to eat. Quite a few class action lawsuits against Honda, Toyota and others. --Bob

What is the world coming to?

Biodegradable wiring? Think I'll go get some cashew based oil, a hemp pressed alternator and fill up with vegan approved soy fuel.
