ZR-1 Exhaust and Chip Mod Help
Hello-
It's taken decades but I'm coming around to consider purchasing a ZR-1. The best driving day of my life included test driving a 1990 ZR-1 back in the late 1990s and I'll never forget it (and '66 L72).
What a car and what an engine!! Dark red and saddle.
Are there any negatives to the Flow Master exhaust? Too loud? Does it effect noise level in the cabin? Does it actually increase HP?
What about a Ligenfelter performance chip? Where is the performance gain? Entire rpm range? High end? Any negatives?
Thanks!
Tom

Marc Haibeck or DRM is normally the performance chip of choice. Normally its tuned for WOT and the cooling fan coming on early however you can add power key on, CAGS skip shift delete and headers mods to the same chip. You should join us over at the zr1registry.net. No negatives there either,

GC is on target. I have a Haibeck chip and am thrilled with the performance. I swapped the resonator (a must for a 90) for a Magnaflow X pipe and kept the stock muffs on my 91... Zero drone.
Most of the ZR1 guys bounce between ZR1.net and CF so we share our crazy equally.

All I can add is if you can find the original Flowmaster set-up made for the ZR-1 it has no resonance even with headers, and is very mild at speed.

Stock with just chip and catback
The Flowmasters are on the 93 now
Corsa on the 91 with headers cats and full P&P.
