Are you focusing on the 93-95 for the slightly higher hp numbers, lower annual production numbers, interior changes made in the later years, or incremental improvements in the car in general? You may be able to expand your search to other years, depending on what you are looking for. It will be easier to find a black car, regardless of year, but these cars do look great in black.

Good luck in your search many FS right now at rock bottom pricing. Don't count out the 90-92 as it takes very little for them to match 93-95 HP numbers. Personally I like the dash and seats of the 90-93.

Not really,I see them come up for sale from time to time. Last one was a few years ago and I think it was around $40,000 I think. I too like the dash design better in the early cars.

While all the ZR-1 are great and relatively rare, when I started searching for ZR-1s in 1994, I wanted the '93 because (a) it was more developed from an engineering standpoint than earlier cars, (b) had the higher horsepower and (c) was quite rare relative to earlier cars with only 448 built. Ditto for the 94s, but I wanted a used car to save money. Ended up getting HIL KING with about 6,000 miles on it. (In Quasar Blue, not my original first color choice but it turned out to be rare--last year for color and only seven made). Kept it for 13 years and an additional 70k miles.
Regretted selling it and a couple years later decided firmly on getting a '95. Same reasons as for the '93, but it was the last year, and I know from experience with mid years and others that all things being equal, the last year usually ends up more desirable (e.g., '67) , along with first year cars (e.g., '63 SWC). I still wanted the most developed from an engineering standpoint, so '95 was all I was interested in. It took about a year to find one I liked (in Polo Green, one of the several colors I was OK with). Went for condition, miles, ownership history over color and bought #409, one of the last 30 produced. Set your goals, have patience and you willl find what you want. Good luck with your search. --Bob

OP ..... One other distinction of 93 vs 94-5 is the seats. I like the 93 seats myself but 94-5 seats are wider. Sounds minor but if you drive it much, it will matter.

If u r going to mod the motor, the distinction between 90-92 v 93-95, gets blurrier. In fact, the 90-92 Injector Housings are the ones that typically are used for porting regardless of year. The 92 is a very inique in that it has the first edition 375hp motor, but comes w ASR. 502 units produced.

we have similar taste. My goal is to own all factory high performance engines of the modern Vettes. Have the C4 ZR-1 and LT4. C6 Z06 as well.
C5 Z06, C6 ZR1 are next on my list. Wish I would have never sold my C5 Z06. live and learn.
best of luck in your search. The C4 ZR-1 is a blast to drive!

I liked my all black LPE 93 It was a 475 car and interesting in that they used oliver rods and forged pistons in the stock bore with the nikasil liners
conservative porting and stock cams, car put down 400. Not really that much now that the stock block engines do that without ported heads.
but it was a looker! darth vaders chariot.

if you see a C3 ZR1 priced anywhere close to that, please pm me. I will give you a 10% finders fee if it is documentable and I can buy it for that price.
