SGC stage 1 cams in a Stock long block LT-5?
anybody out there try this? I al thinking of giving it a try on my 94
I have Jeal (spelling) headers, B&B exhaust, Chip, Cut out lid, 4.10's
I was thinking of doing the stage 1 cams, and porting the plenum, and injector housing. I am thinking this and the NOS Dry kit will hold me over till I can free up the $35K for a maxed out 415...

I suggest you go with the reground cams, all the port work, and spray the house down!! Although the cams may be alittle big for a 350. You will have one hell of a serious engine less the biggest expense the crank. You have to pull the engine to do the cams so you might as well do the heads also. Thats a whole lot to do while you are in there, but well worth it! There are a few, and I mean 2-3 people that get similiar power out of there 350 as many do out of my 368s. So with that in mind you could leave out the big expense of the 368 stuff, and have about 540rwhp with a 100 shot!

Are you planning on going with the NOS system for the dry shot? If so, don't exceed a 100 shot, and let me know, as I've got an NOS kit that I'm not going to be using - brand new, never used - will sell cheap - as long as you agree not to use more than a 100 shot - I don't want you to fry your engine, and above 100 shot, you're sure to do so!! :seeya

I'll take it if it's the NOS Dry kit for the ZR-1, not a generic kit.

Matt the stage II cams from Aaron are .418" lift (stock .397") and a bit more duration as well.
He just finished a 350 with stock cams and 2-1/2" exhaust and resonator and got 412 rwhp. This was with heads and intake ported.
With the exhaust you got and the stage 1 cams your car could go to the 430-440 rwhp. This is good for mid 11's at 124 mph in a good track with decent weather and good driving.
Add to that 100 shof of the juice and you got yourself a killer set up that could run in the high 10s at 130-133 mph traps... all for less than 10K, and the car will be a monster from a roll.
now remember than although the HP numbers dont seem that high, is all in the rpms and the shape of the curve on the LT-5. The set up above on juice will make about 540 rwhp. On a Viper to run in the low 130's in the 1/4 you'll need about 620-640 rwhp...

Julio - do you mean the stage I cams? You said stage II then Stage I - what are the differences? I assume stage I are good for stock, and stage II for 368/ mild 415, and stage III for nasty 415 - does this make sense? :seeya

Re: SGC stage 1 cams in a Stock long block LT-5? (DDSLT5)
I was talking about stage I (sorry). Aaron uses these for 368's and got 470 rwhp on his 368 with the big valves with these cams. The stage II are the 440/237 cams and stage III are the 450/242 cams, used for the 400 plus cid's
