ZR1 Jim

Well I have had my ZR1 for almost 5 years now and have kept it totally stock. It was time for some maintenance and repairs so I took it to Marc's shop in the spring. He pulled the plenum and replaced vacuum hoses and fittings, spark plugs&wires, coil packs, accessory belt, water pump, various a/c components, and every fluid on the car. It was running great, just like a new car. I was so happy with Marc's work I decided to take it back to him to get the 4.10 gears. It seems like my Z would just rev forever and the stock 3.45's were to tall for the engine. 6th gear was basically unusable in my car under 80 mph and as soon as someone pulled in front of me I had to downshift to 5th to avoid lugging the engine. Marc advised me that my car was a little weaker in low end torque than other stock ZR1's he had driven but it was much stronger up top. He said most 375 hp cars have a big drop in power after 6000 rpm but mine pulls like a champ from 6000-7000. The 4.10's would really help with the soft bottom end and take advantage of the strong top end.

In conclusion, the 4.10's make this car about 1000X better! The car is much easier to launch and feels like it has another 50 horsepower. I wish I had done this years ago. Marc's work is top notch and he is a really great guy to boot. He is an encyclopedia of ZR1 knowledge and you can learn something valuable every time he speaks.

If anyone is thinking about getting 4.10's or any other work by Marc I say go for it. :thumbs:

Don't you just love those 4.10's? And you are right about Marc.
He is the NICEST fellow around.And his knowledge of ZR1's is astounding.
I just wish he were closer to me.A class individual for sure.
