ZR1 Twin Turbo Charger kit installed $8k
A lot of bang for the buck compared to the other LT5 engine upgrade packages.

Re: ZR1 Twin Turbo Charger kit installed $8k (Hooked on Vettes)
Hey wait. I can do them all too. Just bring your Vette to my house and drop off $8,000 and someday you might get a twin turbo something back. It may or may not run. Limited warranty. We can't be made liable for everything. This is experimental work going on here.

How many Zr1 TT's exist ...there were half a dozen lpe's. . .any others? I somehow don't believe, no matter how much I'd like to, that this kit exists. . .esp at this price...

I agree this sound strange... but on the other hand these guys have 100% positive feedback in their ebay account. With more than 125 successful transactions
Maybe it is worth a phone call to see what they would use in a LT5 and if they have really ever seen an LT5 engine bay and the lack of free space in it, just to see if they know what they are talking about.

without lowering the compression you would be limited to pretty low boost which kinda negates the power increase you would be looking for.
the cost of the parts is less than 8K, but I must agree that this sounds pretty risky.
but don't dismiss these guys without the courtesy of checking them out.
key word here is risk. if you have time, a spare vette, and are willing to risk 8k on R&D, you might make out, or, you may not. but if these guys are experienced fabricators, it would be pretty cool to get on the ground floor.
I'm not in the turbo market right now (and would probably buy a callaway if I were!!!) but I'm glad to see more folks stepping up to try and build the systems.
price is way cheap, you get what you pay for most times. :yesnod:

Re: ZR1 Twin Turbo Charger kit installed $8k (Rkreigh)
I could probably spare my incoming Zr1 if I felt I could trust them...this is an email I got back from them...
We have not yet done a system on a ZR-1. However, we have a lot of
experience in building turbo systems and we see absolutely no reason
why a
kit cannot be built on a ZR-1. That is why we are offering the free
installation and dyno tune for the person who supplies a car on which
to
build the first system. Obviously, if for some unknown reason, we
cannot do
so, we will refund any money paid by the customer and return the car in
its
original condition. I'm sure that at some time in the past, people did
not
think you could build a turbo system on some of the other cars we have
successfully done. If you would like to read more about us and our
systems,
go to our website at:
http://www.turbochargedpower.com
If you have any questions, you can reply to this email or call us at
505-623-1304. Thank you.
Sincerely,
Tom Berry

But I don't trust anyone who's not worked on many corvettes, esp with no LT5 experience...

I agree it's a tough call, but that is what hotrodding is all about. First guy on the block.

Re: ZR1 Twin Turbo Charger kit installed $8k (PaceThis)
Well, the fact is that it can be done, and it has been done in the past. LPE, Callaway and Geiger (at least) have installed twin turbos in the ZR1, the main problem is plumbing and space for fitting turbos, intercoolers and everything under the hood. It is not like the B2K in the old L98s, we almost have no space there.
One good question would be: Only 8k?

Hey - don't forget about Mallet - he did a TT or two in his day as well. It can definitely be done, and if they are willing to do so for 8K, I think someone may wish to try these guys out - I'll be watching VERY closely!!!! :lurk: :lurk: :seeya
