Gen 1 400HP Viper VS ZR1
Does anyone know any good links to articles putting these two cars head to head. I recently bought a '95 Viper and I'm curious as to how it compares to the ZR1. I know the top speed of the ZR1 is considerably higher (165 MPH for the Viper VS 180 MPH for the Z) but I'm curious about acceleration, handling, and braking numbers. Or better yet, does anyone have experience with both cars personally? Any info would be appreciated. Thanks!

Either someone posted it here or I saw it on another website. The article I saw showed the ZR-1 faster in the quarter mile (as tested) by a hair (like .4 secs) It would probably be up to who could get the better launch and shift.

I figured they would be a good match. I did find an old Motor Trend test from '94 I believe, but the numbers they have listed for the ZR1 are so rediculous I can't even use them to make an honest comparison. Zero to 60 in 5.2 and 13.6 at 106 in the quarter. I bet they got a lot of hate mail from Corvette guys after that test.

Best driver wins! Give the edge to the ZR1 as speeds increase!

With the huge amount of low end torque in the V10,your best chance
against the ZR1 is at the start. That being said, with all of that V10 torque,
a good launch will be hard.Very good matchup! I love the Vipers.

I have a magazine test from the early 90's laying around somewhere, can't seem to find it right now. If I recall correctly they were pretty darn close in the quarter mile, like within a tenth or two.

I think its the best driver wins situation. Put some sticky tires on that Viper and out of the hole the ZR1 will be chasing. Stock for stock of course. Are any of those cars stock anymore?

Good one Frank. Your right it means about 1,000 different things to a 1,000 different people.
"Hey, my car is stock..............except for the K/N, computer chip, sticky tires, rear end gears, ported intake, bigger throttle body.......ect, ect, ect." besides that its stock.......err stock displacement is what I meant to say.
I've heard it all.
I do think the Gen 1 Vipers and the ZR1's are real close in performance. Different approaches with about the same result.

I've raced a number of them at Moroso, and i've beat them all (but broke once and lost). If they have sticky tires, look out. But many guys can't get them to hook up. The Z' must get the jump, because the snake comes on mad once it's hooked. :yesnod:
