Default My modified 92 Z07 Coupe is for sale (lots of pictures)!

After many months of painful deliberation, I have decided to sell my ’92. This was not an easy decision, as I have sunk my heart and soul into this car (along with my life savings) and it pains me to do so. For years now, I have always wanted a ZR-1 and just recently found the one I want to own. Unfortunately, I do not have the means to own both vettes and must sell this one in order to pay for the new one. My vette is a 1992 Bright Aqua coupe with light gray interior. It currently has 55,750 miles and came with the following major options:

AC1 – 6-way Passenger Power Seat
AC3 – 6-way Driver Power Seat
AQ9 – Sport Bucket Seats
C68 – Electronic Air Conditioning
FE7 – Heavy Duty Front & Rear Suspension
FX3 – Selective Ride
GM3 – 3.45 Gear Ratio
J55 – Heavy Duty Brakes
MN6 – 6-Spd Manual Transmission
U1F – Gold Delco Bose AM/FM CD Player w/Cassette
Z07 – Sport Package (738 Total)

It also comes with the following modifications:

MORE Performance Top-End Kit
Totally reassembled motor (painted)
LT1 CNC Ported Heads
2" and 1.57" severe duty Stainless Steel Valves w/Titanium Retainers
Comp Cams Double Valve Springs
Comp Cams Pro Magnum Roller Rockers (1.6)
Comp Cams Pro Magnum Hydraulic Roller Lifters

Comp Cams Guide Plate and 7/16 Studs
Hardened Race Pushrods
52mm Throttle Body
Custom PCM by Ed Wright
MSD Ignition and Coil
Custom MORE Performance Wires
TPIS 1.75" Full Length Headers, Ceramic Coated
3" B&B Tri-Flow Exhaust (no cats)
3" Dr Gas X-Pipe replacing the Tri-Flow Resonator
Breathless Vortex Air Intake
Be-Cool Aluminum Radiator
MORE Performance Polished Valve Covers
Doug Rippie programmed Shock Controller Prom
Doug Rippie Brake Bias
Revalved Bilstein Shocks
Poly-Urethane Bushings all the way around
Entire suspension was glass-beaded and clear-coated
Stainless Steel Brake Lines
Performance Friction 90 Compound Brake Pads
3" Autopower Rollbar w/5pt Harnesses and Brey Krause mounts
Halon Fire Extinguisher on Brey Krause mount
Chrome GS Wheels (AFS Inc) w/Dunlop SP8000's (worn) 17x9.5 & 17x11
Fuel Pressure Regulator
160-degree Thermostat
Relocated MAT Sensor
Lowered Front (2.5”) and Rear (1.5”)
Lloyd floor and hatch mats
Minor cosmetic mods

Here is a list of things that have been replaced in the last 18 months:

New Clutch (Stock) with flywheel resurfaced
New Opti-Spark w/Corvette Clinic (Chris Petris) venting
New Water Pump
New LT1 Timing Chain
New Coolant Hoses
New Brake Master Cylinder w/cap
New Front Rotors
New Weather-strip (Hatch)
New Fuel Filter

I bought this car in November of 1995 with 29,400 miles and it came with no documentation whatsoever. Since then, I have every receipt for everything that has been done to the car. It comes with the leather bound Owner’s Manual, both GM Service Manual’s, the Window Sticker and Build Sheet. I also have most of the original parts that have been replaced, with the exception of the stock exhaust and stock wheels, and will be throwing in an Evolution 4 car cover.

All of the motor work was done in February of 2001 and was performed by my brother-in-law Dominic Ferreira, who owns Ferreira Automotive in Newington, VA. Corvette Masters in Central Florida did some final tuning. I have 6 rolls of film of all the work that was done to this car (some before but mostly after) and will post some of the pictures at the end of this thread. Since the work was completed, it has only been drag raced two times with a best of 12.71 @ 111 mph on street tires. I have dynoed the car using a Dynojet 248E (Vinci Hi Performance) and my best pull was 351.2 RWHP and 350.8 RWTQ. There is only 4,000 miles on the modified motor.

I love this car and have tried to take very good care of it. Ferreira Automotive has also meticulously maintained it. Seriously interested parties should contact me for a complete and accurate description. If anybody is interested in the car (or anybody you know), please let me know and I will arrange for a test drive. I am asking $23,000 but will consider all serious offers.

Here are a number of pictures...

FWIW, I consider Mike a good friend of mine (but don't hold that against him :)) and I'm very familiar with his 92.

Simply put, this car is totally awesome and is one of the finest examples of what can be done with a C4 if you put your mind (and your wallet) to the test! Mike has spared no expense on his baby and it shows.

This car not only looks fabulous, but it runs even better! I should know, as he took great pleasure in consistently shutting ME down in the WildThing (my previous modded 96 Grand Sport) during our one and only outing together on the drag strip. I thought my car sounded good but this one is most definitely mean. At idle, the car sounds simply menacing. At WOT, small kids and dogs run for cover! Awesome.

He's running the same cam in this car that I had in mine which is a perfect street grind. Loads of torque, great idle, and plenty of usable power. This is a car that was meant to be driven and the way Mike has taken care of it, somebody is going to get one heckuva deal! :yesnod:

Hate to see you sell her, Mike, but I know all too well what its like when you get the bug for a new toy.

Hutch,

Thanks for the kind words and the kudos. I hate to sell her but I have had this car for 6.5 years now and feel it's time for a change. Plus, I really want a ZR-1 bad! :D

Man this is one outta control car if I could only buy a second vette for myself. I can't beleive no one has jumped on this beast. You have done a great job on building one bad vette. Attention to detail on this car is amazing!

Good luck if I hit lotto tonight be expecting a call :flag

Thanks, Jim! I did very little of the work myself (mostly polishing and such). My brother-in-law did 98% of it and did a first-class job all the way. One of my buddies from my previous club up north is very familiar with the car and wants it, but has to sell his in order to pay for it. Sounds like a familiar situation... :)

Thanks for the compliments JD! Someone is going to be very lucky indeed. It may even be me. :) If it doesn't sell, I'm thinking of doing the MORE 396 package. I've got another month to sell her though and will probably wait until then...

Buddy, you've raised the bar for what a Vette should be. That is soooooooooooo sweet. If only I had been born rich instead of so devilishly handsome.........hehe.

Thanks for all the nice posts, guys! It is a tremendously sweet car that gets a lot of attention. It sounds every bit as good as it looks (even better) and it is very clean. There are no oil leaks whatsoever, with the typical bolster wear on the driver's seat and some very minor scratches on the exterior. One small chip on the corner of the driver's side door (smaller than a dime) where some idiot hit it when opening their door. :mad

You would not be disappointed with this car! It idles at 850 all day long and runs at 170 degrees seven months out of the year down here in Florida. In the summer months it very rarely sees anything over 200 degrees. Ya gotta love that Be-Cool radiator! :) The cam is mild (Comp Cams 210/224 @ 112) with just a slight lope and excellent drivability. I think the lift is something like .533/.534 w/1.6 Rockers.

So come on down and take it for a test drive! :D

I have ridden in Mike’s beautiful and powerful 92 on many occasions. This car is absolutely immaculate, as well as able to throw you back in the seat while hugging curves like it is truly on rails. Mike has entered this car in numerous concourses and I think the only comments on the judges sheets were “speck of dust on dash”, and that’s it! He has kept each and every nut and bolt on this car clean, tuned and ready to rumble. I can not believe he is selling it and I know it will be a sad day for many people who have known this car when it is gone. From the show floor to the race track, this vette truly stands out as a pampered beauty with a beast under the hood!

There are no scratches (only tons of polish) on every panel and rim, the interior is spotless and I am sure Mike has all the documentation and receipts you could ever need. It would truly be an awesome purchase for anyone. I only wish I could buy it!!! At any price, this car will be a steal. A lot of sweat, tears, busted knuckles and money have gone into this car. But, I will be happy to ride in your new ZR-1 Mike and can’t wait!!!

I suppose my only comment would be that from what I hear, a ZR1 would be a step DOWN from what you have!!!!!
