Default Spud Is For Sale… Clean Low Mile 1986 Coupe

Up for sale is my ultra clean, low mileage, nicely modified, base suspension 1986 coupe. Dark Red Metallic exterior, Graphite leather interior, late 86 aluminum head L98 350 V8, A4 transmission, performance 3.07 rear-end, blue Lexan removable targa top, power drivers seat, 61,500 miles, clean Carfax, clean title in hand.

I am the fourth owner. I purchased the completely stock car in May 2010 with 57,500 miles. A female doctor in San Francisco, CA originally owned the car. The second owner was a California Highway Patrolman from Los Angeles. The third owner was a retired man from Summerlin, NV. He owned the car for less than two years.

Documentation and research shows that a few minor issues were addressed/fixed by the previous owners. The car was re-painted with the factory DRM at some point, most likely due to clear coat/fading issues. No visual signs of body damage/repair are evident. Car shows a clean Carfax. The third owner replaced the AC compressor unit and fixed a purge valve within the charcoal evap system to fix a fuel smell. Fuel filter was replaced at that time also. Stage 1 shift kit installed.

The following list is items I have serviced/installed on the car during my ownership (approximately 4,000 miles).

Front end upper and lower ball joints
Rear lowering bolts
Four wheel alignment
Hood shocks
Baer Track Brake System (DS rotors, calipers, braided lines)
Hawk ceramic brake pads
Brake fluid
KYB shocks painted red
Chrome ZR1 A Mold wheels 17x9.5 and 17x11 in correct early C4 offsets
Nitto NT555 tires 275/40/17 and 315/35/17 (less that 1200 miles)
Z51 front air dam
Lower radiator shroud
Cleaned area between radiator and ac condenser
Open air lid and K&N filter
Coolflex aluminum radiator hose
Coolant flush
Royal Purple oil
Ported and polished TPI plenum, runners and throttle body
Red throttle body plate
ACDelco spark plugs
Taylor spark plug wires (red)
Serpentine belt
ACDelco water pump
Polished valve covers with color C4 logo
Chrome engine dress up kit
Lloyd C4 logo floor mats
Valve stem seals
Valve springs
TPIS long tube headers (Jet Hot ceramic coated)
Corsa catback exhaust
Battery (less than 500 miles)
Window regulator ribbons
Both power window switches
Ignition cylinder and keys
Sylvania Silverstar Headlamps
Pioneer Ipod/CD head unit with remote
Pioneer four channel amplifier mounted stealth in hatch storage area
Two Polk Audio 6.5 inch round door speaker with custom enclosures/covers
Two Polk Audio 8 inch subwoofers mounted stealth in rear hatch speaker locations
Hatch and doors sound deadening
Door sill protectors
Gas cap
Windshield wiper blades
Console cover
Targa top shade
Spare tire and carrier removal
Custom polished C4 logo differential plate (one-off)
Hardwired battery tender with quick disconnect through drivers side gill
Noah indoor car cover
Skill mini drill with torx bit for targa top removal
Contikit flat repair
Custom silver GS stripes
Limo tint on hatch – 15 percent tint on side windows

The car is super clean and shows little wear considering it’s age. No leaks, drips. Car idles smooth and pulls hard. AC blows ice cold and the Corsa exhaust is quiet at cruising but wicked at WOT. Passes SMOG with no issues. The paint is an 8/10. Dark Red Metallic is a stunning color. There is one small area of minor spider cracking on the rear bumper and a few chips of the nose that I touched up with GM matched paint.

As indicated earlier, the car at some point had a re-spray. This was pointed out to me by my close friend, and fellow Forum member Kevin G. (Pizzano). Kevin noticed some imperfections in the paint probably due to improper prep work. Kevin owns G&K Paint Correction here in Henderson, NV and has performed his multi-step paint correction process twice on the car. The color depth and finish is outstanding. Most people will not notice any issues with the paint.

I am obsessive about my cars. They need to have a blend of looks and performance, and I think I achieved that goal with this car. The car sits super nice with a low and wide stance. The 11 inch rear ZR1s and brand new 315 Nittos look killer and the Baer Track brakes look amazing and stop the car quickly. In my opinion, the Corsa exhaust also compliments the stance and sounds incredible with the headers. Nice dark tint and the silver GS stripes really compliment the lines of the car. Under the hood, it’s just as nice. White glove clean with a nice blend of chrome/polish and red, along with some go-fast parts. Definitely ready for shows if that is your thing.

The Graphite interior is mint. Very, very little wear on the drivers bolster. No fading, cracking, tears in the seats. The carpet looks like new. Dash and console are nice. Custom Pioneer/Polk Audio stereo is super loud and clean. The sound deadening mat really helped with interior noise and tightened up the low end bass from the subs. Weather-stripping is good with some minor cracking in places. The driver side window sweep has a small piece missing. I was wiping with a microfiber towel a few weeks back and caught the sweep and snapped a small piece off the end.

The car is not a ragged-out Craigslist, early C4 basket case. Those $5k cars are going to get you to $10k in a hurry plus have 100K to 200K miles. Most of the wear items have been replaced and a ton of mods have been added. The only things I would consider eventually replacing are the injectors, rotor and cap. These are not needed now, the car runs amazing. I would drive this car anywhere.

I’ve been a member here since 2004. I sold my C5 in 2008 here to member Dan F. (dfalliux). Dan could vouch for the condition/cleanliness of that car and the smoothness of that transaction. Local friends and Forum members (Pizzano, Clutchdust, Purefun) can vouch for the condition of the car and it’s drivability. These guys are amazing and are active members of Sin City Vettes here in Las Vegas/Henderson. MCR Corvettes in Las Vegas and Speedworks Automotive Engineering installed the mods and performed the service work. ***** at MCR and Gary (Clutchdust) from SAE could answer any questions you may have. Gary was over last week to look at the car. No codes are present and no stored codes. He suggested replacing the belt tensioner pulley due to some noise. That will be done this week. Everything else is solid.

The car is garaged and covered here in Henderson, NV just outside Las Vegas. This would be a great time of year to fly into Vegas, spend some time on The Strip and drive the car home.

To be honest, I’m really on the fence about selling. I’ve poured a lot of time, love and money into this car. If I don’t find the right buyer at my price, I will keep it. This is not a hardship sale. The main reason for listing it is because I am considering buying a 2013 modified Chevy Silverado 4x4 that I can drive from my wheelchair. Some of you may know that I use a wheelchair, (spinal cord injury playing high school hockey 29 years ago). I’ve always wanted an accessible 4x4 and finally a company in Indiana is making one. Mobility SVM http://www.mobilitysvm.com is the company, check it out, very cool. I will use the funds to mod the truck and free up some garage space.

$9,950 firm. I will list the car locally and on Autotrader in two weeks for more money. My preference is to sell it here to a member. PM me.

Stay Frosty!
Stephen

Spud is sharp!

Obviously well cared for. That's got to be one of the cleanest TPI motors I've ever seen.

Dittos! Great C4 for a first timer. You won't have to spend a bunch of money fixing her up like many folks end up doing.
Fly in to LAS, see a show and try your luck at the casino before heading home.

This vette is worth every dollar of the OP's asking price in my opinion. Someone is going to get themselves a beautiful ride.

That's what a lot of folks don't get. You're miles ahead spending a little more and buying spud than trying to rehab a lesser car. This one's near perfect right out of the box. Hop in and go....

If I didn't already have Marco, I'd be giving this one serious consideration. I still can't get over how sharp that engine compartment is.

Damn! surprised spu was sold.

But the car is as described by Steve the Owner who is a good friend of mine.

Cleanest C4's around and alot of carshow appeal with the mods made to the engine, and a Killer sound system, my ears will contest to that, lol.

Good Buy!!

Congratulations. I love that pic. Cottonwood Cove must have been what Little Big Town's song "On the Pontoon" was written for.
