If I win the lotto I will buy your Car. Beautiful car and I have a soft spot in my heart for one, here is a picture of ours back in late 80's, early 90's. I can't remember what year it was or which number it was, but that car was seriously fun to drive. I have a fond memory of going to get gas one day (at 17 or 18 years old I was only allowed to drive it sparingly for gas or just to exercise the engine) and racing a chick in a formula firebird who reved at me at a light... she had no idea and I put train lengths on her... car had insane power, I liked it more than our ZR1 and that car was a beast in it's own right.

Cool story. I have twin boys 18 and they drive all of them. Out of all of them it's the Twin Turbo they enjoy the most. The rush of the turbo seems to thrill them.

Your car looks like an 88 or 89. They are fun.

Well here's a Boomer Sooner to you then! If I had a bit more money I'd think about selling the Z06 and get this car instead! Awesome car.

Fresh set of plugs put in over the weekend. I do this every year on this car to ensure the best drivability.

Took it for a quick run up to Oklahoma City with one of my twin boys and dropped him off at OU.

On the way back made a Porsche owner very envious of my old '88

He didn't know what just hit him. My guess is he now thinks something is wrong with his car!

Default OPTIMA Presents Corvette of the Week: 1988 Callaway Twin Turbo Corvette #57

The 80s were a time of phenomenal advancement for the Corvette. At the beginning of the decade, the tired C3 was still being sold as new on showroom floors, even though a fuel crisis and EPA regulations made that car a shadow of its former self. By mid-decade, however, Corvette began recovering from the dark ages of the 70s, and with the C4 (introduced for the 1984 model year) began to gaze deeply into the 80s and beyond.

This look to the future could be evidenced by a horsepower-figure rocket launch. In 1984, Corvettes moved on the dance floor to the tune of 205 horsepower. By 1989, only five years later, the ZR-1 with its 375-horsepower, Lotus-designed LT5 V8 was preparing for a 1990 model year debut. Beyond that, tuners like Callaway had already gone lightyears beyond 375 horsepower. In 1988, Callaway introduced its Sledgehammer -- an 898-horsepower, 254-mph marvel of engineering. Part of the car's frame was used for the intake, for crying out loud, and this was 21 years before the Aston Martin One-77.

While this week's Corvette of the Week is not the official Sledgehammer (car #51), people commonly mistake BoostedmaxPSI's 1988 Callaway Twin Turbo Corvette #57 for the famous Sledgehammer. Running 12 pounds of boost, BoostedmaxPSI's car "makes do" with 420 horsepower and 540 lb-ft of torque. Granted, it's no Sledgehammer, but it has enough of the Sledgehammer's DNA to make you weak in the knees.
