Supposedly GM sandbagged the #'s because the C5 was being launched and the LT4 was just as potent.
I dunno if that's true or not (verified by actual bone stock dyno #'s) but a pal had a 96 CE w/LT4 and that thing was a rocket. Seemingly no difference whatsoever in terms of power vs. my '99 C5 at the time.
To the OP: your car is really nice. Good luck with sale.

As to what was so special about LT4s, I ran a Ferrari Daytona coupe once with my bone-stock GS coupe. He didn't start to catch up until after I backed off at about 120, which was unfortunate because I only got to hear the beautiful V12 symphony pouring out of the back of his car after he went by me. There were many differences between the LT1 and the LT4, and I'm still amazed that they went through the expense to do that engine for such a limited production run...especially after the LT5 debacle, and considering all the money that they were then already pouring into the new LS series.

A stock LT4 would make 300rwhp on a dyno, as would a stock LS1. So they were indeed identical in power. These are IMO the best stock C4. I know this will not be a popular opinion, but while the ZR1s made more power yet, those engines are a lot heavier over the front of the car - exactly where you don't want the weight. It's been 15 years since I drove a stock LT4, but it was just a wonderful engine in stock form. And the last years of C4s had the best interior and best integrity of that generation.

Bump for a great looking car.
I am partial since I have its twin except mine has 40k miles. I am really impressed with it and it looks like someone will get a great car.
Good luck with the sale.
