Default Opti-Spark & Engine Cleaning

It is safe to steam clean LT1 motors with Opti-Spark ignition?

If it's not advisable, what other engine / underhood cleaning tips are there?

Thanks,

Steam can get into the vent holes on the bottom of the optispark, also water can get in the connector at the top of the distributor, the top can be blown out the steam inside is a different story.

If you cover the vent holes(3 of them on the bottom), then make sure to blow out the plug connection on the top it might be OK.

There is no guarantee that you won't get moisture under the cap but if you have the late model (95-96) with the vent system intact you would be less likely to get moisture.
