1986 Corvette Excellent condition

Melting Slicks
This is so typical of this forum. The running down of the values is just silly. The car is a 10k car as it sits, and tires are not $1000, they are about $550. And the right buyer is happy to buy the tires and store the originals for shows and judging. Do not take less than 10k for the car.

Car is worth more than $8k, I suggest having it cleaned and gone over by a mechanic if you're interested in selling it. In my opinion it's worth $10 to $11 depending on several conditional items including the condition of the seats, seat bolsters, condition of the paint, any marks under the nose and the top. Tires are $600 for a decent set and weatherstripping is an issue on all our C4s. The wheels seem like they are not in bad condition and are definitely 1987 wheels, with the dark grey centers. Low mile unmolested cars are still worth double digets and this would make a great daily driver at half the price of a Honda Civic, looks like a great car. Best of luck with the sale.

it looks like a nice car at 10k miles. the seats look suspect also. remember, a car that has sat so many years will have some issues with leaks, gaskets,et c... wear items that have never been replaced. 8k is not a bad offer to take it off your hands as it sits. 10k starts to get a little pricey considering there could be things that will need replacing, gaskets, seals, belts..etc.... tires....and if it goes to a mechanic more money..more money....just saying for a car that is not ready for the road 8 to 10k is not bad. it is a couple so it wont go much above 10k being a l98 engine and not a lt1. Good luck on the car.

Without knowing the close up details as other have mentioned the value will be determined by the market conditions.
Regardless of what its worth, the best buyer that will pay more than others may show up later than sooner. You have to weigh the time factor against the money factor and only you can decide what is best.
If it were me and I wasn't going to put much time, effort, or money into it I would accept an offer over $8000. The reason being is that you start investing in repairs the bill will add up and offset your net proceeds.
In general, its tough to make money reselling C4s unless people give you the car very cheap, or, as in your case for free. You could probably find ways to spend $3000 on it by making it close to perfect.
I would just make sure it is real clean and the fluids are fresh. I wouldn't do anything on the tires and use it as a bargaining chip.
You might be able to close somebody by splitting the cost of tires as an example.
Those old tires may have some value on their own because of the date code and rarity ( assuming they are not cracked ) of Gatorbacks.
Hope you find the right buyer!

Personally id rather have a car that old with 80k on it then 8k. Sitting that long unused valve seals, motor seals, tranny seals, anything rubber breaks down and gets hard. I bought mine with 45k and it had been sitting for only 5 years and I spend a lot of money replacing dry seals. Also the interior can look great but the leather if not conditioned a couple times a year can be dry and crack fast. If you get a serious 8k offer id take it if I were you. Car may be worth 10k but you can easily put 2k into it getting it right again after sitting.

Shame his uncle took such good care of it only to pass and have noone appreciate it...just want the money. All the more reason to use them up while youre breathing
Ditto on storing.....sure they look nice start using them for awhile and see what happens. Got a prime example of one only been sitting a yr or so new brakes already need attention and brand new eng seals start dripping.
GLWS anyway
Op just keep and use it unless you have no need. whats a new car cost? You got one for free man how often does that happen. 8k disappears in a heartbeat these days then you got nothin.

I would invest as little as possible since it's not a hi dollar car. I would spend a buck getting it professionally detailed (engine bay looks great) get either an auto check or a car fax to back up I owner no accidents and advertise it on CarAGus With the history and mileage I'd start at 12 or13 AND tis the season. Wait until fall and the price goes down. For reference last fall I bought a '94 coupe in near showroom condition 45k for $10.5 from a Chevy dealer. Being a Vette lover, I'd keep the car for what you can get.
