WTB: 1996 Grand Sport coupe w/red interior!
Looking for a well kept original, reasonable mileage car. Yes, only red interiors please. Thanks in advance for the consideration!

I would say stick with finding what you really want versus trying to gather good OEM torch red interior parts which are hard to find anyways. Then you'd have the piece of mind the car is authentic and the value would also dictate that. I can't say a for sure number but GS are on the up value wise convertibles with red interior being the most costly. Oh one last thing I bet it's next to impossible to find a set of red embroidered Grand Sport seats and if you do they are probably $2000

thanks for the reply--totally agree. found one already swapped, and done well--but hesitant due to authenticity.

I used to own GS #429. I agree, you don't want an interior color that isn't original. As for value, the original red interior cars are more costly than the black interior cars, so the car that had it's interior changed to red would be priced like a black interior car or slightly lower due to the non-original color.
Also, Al Knock interiors sells Grand Sport embroidered seat covers in both red and black. They aren't original, but they look and feel exactly the same. I replaced my seat covers on my GS (black with red Grand Sport embroidery on the head rests) with Al Knock covers that I got at Carlisle. They still weren't cheap at around $1000 for the set, but they restored the interior to new condition.
Also agree that the Grand Sport registry is a great resource for finding a Grand Sport.

My dream came true two weeks ago when my 96 Grand Sport Coupe Arrived in an enclosed trailer 🙂🙂 As a young adult I always wanted a GS, but of course no way I could afford it at 19 years old. Every time I go in my garage it's a thing of beauty I couldn't be happier!

nice--and congrats! what was your experience buying--meaning how long was the search, what did you pass on? trying to get a ball park on values from recent buyers. was interested in 94-95 zr-1, but they are far and few btw.

There were only 270 Grand Sports produced with the red interior. I think changing a original black car to red would hurt the value of the car. Also its something that can be easily checked. Keep searching for what you want and best of luck.

The 270 number sounds right. I know that there were 86 red gut Z51 cars built and i seem to recall that 2 of those are no longer with us....
Good luck with your search
