I bought this 1991 with a knocking engine with intentions to have the motor rebuilt and drive it. I pulled the old motor, determined that it was not worth rebuilding, and purchased a .20 over Vortec 5.7 bottom end to put the TPI heads and intake on. Finished up with all of that along with a new Singlemass conversion clutch and flywheel kit. Now I am unable to get the engine timed and all it will do is backfire. I have tried to turn the timing 180* out as well. I don't have anymore money for it and couldn't afford insurance now if I could fix it. All cylinders have compression and can be checked here so I don't think bent valves are a possibility (bottom end was purchased complete with cam so a professional timed the cam/crank, not me).
Car has 88,000 miles on it and is in good condition. Has some clear coat bubbling specifically in the rear. No tears or stains in the leather seats or carpet. Windows and power locks work. Headlight motors are replaced with metal gear models. New ujoints, new weatherstripping on parts of the car, lots of new engine parts (water pump, sensors, pcv, etc), and lots of other little things.
