Collector's Edition, <3K Original Miles
Greetings all. New to community so be gentle! I have a '96 Collector's Edition, black interior, LT4/ZF6 with 2800 miles, absolutely stock other than tires and battery, has been kept in hanger and cleaned regularly. Original glass roof and solid replacement. Cooper tires currently mounted on original CE wheels but have the original tires too. I'm transporting from IL to FL and will be putting the car on the market, and would like some advice on how to determine market price. Thoughts? Comparables?

Are you the original owner? I'm guessing you have documents with the car? I believe it's worth $17 to $19,000 as I follow these 96 LT4s and 93 Ruby cars and believe I have a good idea about the current market. Best of luck with your sale

Jpargo, no, I am the third owner. Second owner, a gentleman that I used to fly for, purchased from original owner about 9 years ago. Unfortunately the second owner is very sick and I am purchasing the car from him. I have never been a "Corvette guy" and know nothing of the values ($ value or intrinsic ownership value) I purchased the car for the owner's full asking price, more to get it off his books and help him out than anything else. My first instinct was to try to sell and recoup what we paid (which is possible based on what you and others are saying it may sell for), but my wife and I are considering keeping the car for an occasional fun drive.

Another questions for the community...is there a real price break in mileage between the current 2800 miles and say 5000 miles? In other words, if we end up selling the car, are we lowering the value if we put a few thousand miles on it, barring any damage or road wear?

I personally don't think you would decrease the value by taking it up to 5K miles.
The real concern for a car that age with such low mileage would be the 'replaceables'... hoses, seals, tires, etc. I suppose the reasoning is if you're driving it daily, those things that go quickly will have been replaced already.

I wouldn't drive the car, think you'd be opening up a can of worms in this having to be replaced, 20 year old car with 2,800 miles I can't imagine the seals have stayed lubed, probably shrank up a bit and dried out, but who knows, I could be wrong! Wouldn't be the first time!

I believe he was trying to determine the price for his car, at $23k you're way over value than what they are selling for. I see 2,800 and 4,500 mile cars being worth the same. You and your wife can put 1200 to 1500 miles and will not hurt the value if you want to enjoy it and still sell it. I had a 91 like that with similar miles that sat then the rear main leaked oil when we started driving it. I also had a very low mileage 93 and 2004 that sat for several years and then when I decided to enjoy them did not leak anything. I would try and keep your car below 4500 miles and the value will not change. Having both tops adds to the value as well as the original tires. I would enjoy it some with your wife, I've been there to only save the car for someone else to enjoy. Best of luck to you whatever you decide.

just pile the miles on it....practically new car for sounds like a fair price
and way cheaper to have fixed than a new one.

Thanks Ronny! I agree that C4's are selling cheap but not many mint collector LT4 cars around....
Realistically its a $19,000-$20,000 car.
