Default 1991 45k miles Z07/Z51 rolling chassis

*****EDIT- having motor work done and installed in the car. will not be parting out or selling rolling chassis at this time. *********

1991 45k miles Z07/Z51 rolling chassis-

red/black

clean title- no accidents

I had an aftermarket 383 go south. the rebuild is going to cost a small fortune, so I plan on selling the car as is, or parting it out.

-
  • Zf6 trans with brand new clutch/slave (500 miles?). Hurst shifter. D44 rear. fresh --fluids in both.
  • New/rebuilt steering column.
  • Coated headers/corsa catback
  • interior/exterior are in very good shape. no damage to any body panels. interior no rips or tears.
  • all lights/ac/heat work.
  • Working FX3 shocks.
  • A-molds with NT05's on all 4 corners.
  • New gears in the headlights. they work great.
  • had working AC
  • aftermarket blue tooth stereo/amp/speakers
  • TPIS minram/Bare afs aluminum heads

I've had this car to a local track event 1 time.

This was a well maintained and capable vehicle. I am just not interested in a fresh motor rebuild.
includes everything but the motor. Everything else is in great working condition. (will include complete miniram intake and aluminum afs heads that need some parts)

$4900. central NJ

if I decide to part out, i'll be listing on another thread.

Default interest in corvette

Hi,
Live in NE and familiar with this car. Have an interest in the car but curious to know what happened to engine that was in the car? I realize it had a failure but what happened to the shortblock that goes with the heads? As I recall that car made over 500 HP when it was fresh. Would be interested in the car with that engine so I can build a new one to the same specs.

Thanks

Car has about 54k on it. NOT 45k.

There was a TON of money put into this car. I have the documentation collected throughout its life.

I had 2 lifters chew up the cam on cylinder one. One lifter was completely shredded.
I had a noise coming from there earlier this year. Brought it to a shop here and they "fixed" it. They changed the pushrod guide plates and adjusted the valves. Also had them put in a new clutch and flywheel (old setup was very noisy)

the noise returned and his time much louder after a month or so. I took it to another shop that was able to see what was happening. And because the cam was chewed up , it was time to tear the motor down. The machine shop that has the motor said there was metal in the pan.

In their opinion, the zz9x cam in the car had too much lift w these rockers and eventually it caused the issue.
its a blower cam anyway. Not sure why it was used for this application.

He he suggested a bit milder cam w a lift under .500. The Pistons, heads, crank, and block are all fine. No damage, but he is tearing it all down to clean it up and put in new bearings and clean up he heads. And obviously install the cam.

Im debating keeping it... But there isn't anyone out here that can tune it. I'd have to do mail order tunes w tpis or pcm4less. I don't even have a data logger for this car. That's the main thing holding me up.

My my machine shop thinks the new setup will have a higher average HP than the original setup.

Between the cost of the rebuild / engine installation/ and fear of not getting it tuned right after its all put back together is discouraging.

I had the car around a small autocross track 1 time. Had an r8 tell me he could not catch me. The car was very quick.

That's where I'm at now.

If you still have the clutch and flywheel you took out, let me know. I am in need of a replacement for mine.
