Trade MB SL500 for C4?
New guy here - wish I was young, too.
I figured, before I sell my SL500 and use the proceeds to buy a Corvette, that I'd see if someone might be interested in a trade. Since I'd rather keep the government's hands out of my pocket as much as possible, I prefer trades and the tax savings that go with them.
It's a 2000 with less than 70K miles. The nearly $100K original sticker included what MB calls the "Designo" package (a name that probably sounds better if your native tongue is German) which includes an exterior color (Diamond Black Metallic) unique to the package, and tasteful use of two-tone leather and carbon fiber.
The car runs and drives perfectly and everything works as it should. The soft top is in excellent shape, although the plastic rear window has a bit of yellowing. Seats show only the slightest bit of wear and are also excellent. Tires have a few hundred miles on them. I swapped out the 17" wheels depicted in the photo showing the car with the top down, putting on the far more desirable and sought-after 18" Monoblocks (in the hard to find proper offset/fitment for the R129 body).
I looked at probably 20 of these before buying this one. Saw cars priced at $15K that weren't as nice and, hoping to get lucky, looked at several in the $5-$10K but found that you pretty much get a turd at that price.
Asking price is $13.5K. Again though, my preference is to save on sales tax by trading into something different. For the right car I might consider throwing in a little money while for the not quite right one I might ask for a little.
Car is in Golden CO.
Interested in ZR-1 or LT1 models. Red, black, silver, grey or other interesting color. Manual preferred but would consider an auto with the right car. Mildly modded or stock.
Thanks for looking.

Nice car and good luck. The market is weak for C4's so lots at good prices but the market is even more tough on the Mercedes SL500.

The 500 is a great cruising car. I would keep it over most C4's.

For 12 or 13k you should be able to score an ultra low mi LT4
There are ZR1s for that amount have to really take a close look at them though
Wouldnt pay that much for an LT1 you can get a very nice C5 for that kind of coin. Good luck

Curious
those 500s are nice cruisers
Only thing that sucks on those cars is fixing them. Not often but when you do look the hell out lol
