Default 96 DRM480 Grand Sport - 1 of 2

SOLD SOLD SOLD

1996 Corvette Grand Sport Doug Rippie DRM480

This Grand Sport is very well known in the GS community. It is #802 of 1000 built, and one of only two DRM480 Grand Sports ever built (verified by Doug Rippie and GS registry).

Coupe, black interior, all options including active ride control (negated by coilover suspension) keyless entry, Bose sound, auto air, dual power sport seats, etc. This car was ordered new by the original Kansas owner from Mente Chevrolet (Kutztown, PA) in May 1996 and shipped directly to Doug Rippie Motorsports for their complete $20K+ DRM 480 conversion.

Car has minor road rash from the former Utah owner who occasionally successfully competed in local autocross events, otherwise no notable flaws. general condition reflects mileage, use, and care.

Approximately 24,000 miles, excellent condition, always garaged, never driven in rain (at least by me), and very rarely driven in the Arizona summer heat. To say that I am **** with my cars would be an understatement. I idle this car to closed loop every weekend but have only briefly driven it the last several years because it takes me too long to clean it afterward. The car is emissions legal in Arizona and current. Reason for selling is I simply don't drive it anymore and need to downsize for retirement.

Engine/driveline/ suspension
Complete Doug Rippie DRM480 conversion done when new with the finest parts: 383 CID LT-4, Callies crankshaft, Oliver rods, JE pistons, Speed-Pro rings, dual valve springs, Ferrea valves, Manley roller rockers & pushrods, ported cylinder heads & intake, 58 mm throttle body, DRM custom computer, high volume oil pump, SS shorty headers (updated, below), K&N air filter, 8 quart Canton oil pan, oil cooler, Centerforce clutch, Borla SS exhaust system, 4:09 gears, SS brake lines & DRM brake bias calibration, complete coilover suspension conversion (DRM coil over springs, re-valved Bilstein shocks, polyurethane bushings, DRM trailing arm and camber brackets)

Audio
Upgraded factory stereo w/ JL Audio speakers, Sony 10 disk CD changer w/remote, removable relatively lightweight Pyle powered subwoofer, Code Alarm security system.

Recent upgrades/freshening
Stainless Exotic Muscle long tube headers, 3" high-flow cats, stainless 3" X pipe, complete stainless 3" B&B exhaust with polished mufflers/tips.
36 lb Bosch III injectors
Adjustable fuel pressure regulator with gauge
New plugs, wires
TPS high flow mass air flow housing
Goodyear GSD3 tires (285 & 315 X 17)
GM Performance drilled/slotted ventilated discs, ceramic pads
Hurst shifter
Arizona Speed and Marine harness bar w/camera mount
Very rare GM OEM spare tire delete aluminum brace
Lloyds embroidered floor and deck mats
Fairly dark tint (Arizona car).

Accessories include original window sticker, history & some past owner records, dyno tests & time trial test results provided by DRM (12.49 @ 115.69 mph), custom car cover, shop manuals, 1/18 scale promotional model, etc.

I drive this thing like an old lady. The only cars I've ever run have been a stock 2007 Z06 Corvette (nose to nose with my car barely getting the edge) and a nasty modified BMW M3 (2 car lengths) - both on the street (yeah, I know).

This car is loud and visually stunning. If you prefer to not be noticed, it's definitely not for you.

SOLD SOLD SOLD

Very nice GS. Had a DRM LT4 383 C4 some years back and they move down the road pretty good!

Best of luck with the sale.

I have the cash to buy this but would have to move out of the house and sleep in it as soon as my bride found out.
Now I feel bad for looking at your post
Folks - this car will never be worth less than this if you keep it well maintained!
GOOD VALUE HERE !

Yes, I am getting the car out to take some photos of the rockers for another person who inquired about the same thing.

Great seeing you again, Daryll.
I woke up this morning thinking, "What the hell did I do?" but am glad this car is going to someone who will take care of it and enjoy it like I did. Hope your son has a blast with it and keeps it for many years.

I'm just praying he doesn't catch me on the street and blow my 6.0 GTO into weeds with my own ex-ride.
