ive been looking for vettes all over the place and ran across vettehound.com. theres atleast 4 or 5 different C5's on there worth well over $20K that are priced $18000 or cheaper. whats up with that? http://www.vettehound.com/geo/classi...php?a=2&b=4024

i realize sum of those cars are sold but dayum some of those prices are rediculous. Typo maybe? hoax/scam or just a damn good deal?

i was also wondering if guys here on the forum would willing to go check on a corvette for me if it was close enough. i'm in texas but there are alot of nice cars north of here. has anyone had any rust problems with there vette's up north from salting the road or do most of yall just keep them in the garage during the winter? thanks for the help in advance.... thomas

P.S. this board is badass..... i havent posted anything yet but im already learning alot for reading the tech on this board....

Not a lot on these things that is able to rust. I live in Idaho, which is northern (albeit our winters are mild). Luckily, our roads are sanded. No salt used here. I garage my Vette during the winter, though. That seems to be the trend as I see few Vettes driving during the winter.

I noticed them too. I think either it is a scam or the site has been hacked. Check out the last L88 made, 1969 vette, numbers matching of course that was posted just after the C5's for a whole $15,000

yeah i think something is definately up. kinda makes u wonder what kinda scams are going on out there. especially if sumone was serious and made set the price within $5K of what it was worth unlike these bozos.... i keep my eyes peeled.... thats kinda why i was wanting someone reputable on this board to maybe check out a car before i spent the money to fly out and inspect it for myself and then possibly buy.....
Litre- thats what i was thinking. i have little experience with vettes at all but if theyre like most cars now days im guessing theyre mostly fiberglass. right now im driving a 95 wrangler with a 350 in it.....EVERYTHING has the potential of rusting on mine if u get it around sand or saltwater. i've seen sum trucks up north with hella-rust damage from salted roads. wasnt sure if it was a prob with vettes........thanks thomas

i sent an email to the guy with the 04 black vert with 3900 miles on it. asking if it was a typo. he responded no and that that price also includes shipping. all the info on the car is correct.

here is his email-

The price I want to obtain is $18500(shipping is included in this
price).

I recently moved to London, United Kingdom.I brought the car with me,
but I can't drive it
here because cars from here are with the steering wheel on right, and
this has the
steering wheel on left so for me this car is useless and the problem is
that I can't sell
it here because it's a US car and it is with the driver seat on the
left side.
The car is like new, completely working, low miles, with 3 years
EXTENDED, INTERNATIONAL
and TRANSFERABLE warranty, which will be honored at any dealer in your
country.
It is US model with US specs and passed the US test emissions.
I would like to use www.PayPay.Com <http://www.paypay.com/> for this
deal because it is a
large purchase and I want
a smooth transaction.
If you are interested, please contact me ASAP.

Best Regards,

Brenda Carson

I believe the Vette Hound web-site is owned by the same person that owns the Corvette Forum web-site.

It doesn't appear the site is monitored for scam artist.

Tell the guy you have a friend who lives in London
and want to set up a time and date for inspection.

His reply will probably be it's in a shipping container and the shipping company won't allow access to the car for inspection.

Take a look at grammar and punctuation on the PAY PAY web-site.

i sent the response stating i have freinds in london and the U.K. because i travel there for buisness quite often. (thats BS just to let you know) and asked if one can stop by to take a look and drive the car for me. \

we will see what happens

if this is a scam, I want to expose it now before a buyer gets in trouble. I want to do what i can to stop it. I have read so many people that have been victims to scams lately, it is making me sick. And it is not the buyers fault. and if a couple of emails is all it takes to save somone from loosing 20k, so be it. on the other hnd if this is legit, thats a damn good deal.

Forrest Gumps Momma said it best. "Stupid is, as Stupid does."
Price is relative to many factors. I have been around Corvettes all my life, but excepting for new ones, I never buy without a professional appraiser. My last purchase appraisal cost was $225.00 and his report brought the price down $6000.00 from where we were at that point. It is hard for a seller to misrepresent something that way and even harder for your (I love it or I want it) jaded eyes to lie to you. Cheap also does not mean value and SCAMMERS are EVERYWHERE so BEWARE.

Best of luck in your search. Forum members are great sources of information as you can see by the other post. Hope my two cents worth helps. Shalom and Grace, David

Default Professional Appraisers

dcress1127,

I am looking for a C5 in the Chicago area. Who do you know or recommend that can evaluate a potential purchase? I don't know any professional appraisers in the area.
