FS 1997 Torch Red A4
PRICE REDUCED to $14,995!
I listed this a while ago on KSLCARS and Craigslist. Price has been reduced $2000.
I'm selling my 1997 Corvette in preparation for buying a brand new one. This car has been pampered, garaged and properly cared for which is clearly evident when you see it. It's impossible for people to believe that it's 10 years old, that's how well it has been taken care of. Never smoked in. It looks and drives like a $50,000 sports car.
If you've been wanting to get into a C5 for a fantastic price, this is your chance.
The color is Torch Red. The car has always been serviced with Mobil 1 full synthetic 5w30. The VIN is 1G1YY22G5V5100728. This is a first year C5, and as you can tell from the VIN number, it's one of the first 1000 ever produced. These first cars got a lot of attention at the factory. It has 123K miles. It runs perfectly and does not leak anything. Engine is in perfect condition and is surprisingly strong. It has an A4 automatic transmission. It also has a Blackwing intake and 4" Borla Stinger exhaust, otherwise it's stock. When I first purchased it, I ran a 13.85 in the quarter at RMR. My buddy has a supercharged C5 and I can keep up with him. Other additions to the car include stainless steel lettering on the front licence plate indentations and the back bumper indentations. Halo LED tail lights (makes this car look like a rocket ship at night!), lettering kit for the driver's side air bag. It has a custom stainless steel exhaust port filler between the exhaust with the C5 logo, filling that ugly gap with beauty. It has a cargo mat in the back. Bose stereo system sounds great. Windows are tinted. It has Dual power seats and dual climate control. Traction Control. Toyo T1R tires, front and back. Z06 Screens are installed in front of the front fog lamps. $200 double chromed license plate/reverse light frame. Chromed wheels. It also has chromed screws in the engine bay, wheel wells and door jambs. It also has a brand new aftermarket Racetronics fuel pump which I replaced this year. The 1997's were notorious for their noisy driver's side fuel pumps so I finally took care of it. It has a new water pump and thermostat as of this year because the old one was leaking fluid out the bottom. The system was flushed with new coolant when this repair was done. The transmission fluid was flushed a few months ago. This year I also replaced all four O2 sensors and had NGK spark plugs installed with MSD 8mm wires. When I bought it the rotors pulsed upon braking, so I replaced all four of those too. Haven't had a single major problem with this car, ever. If you look on the Corvetteforum.com concerning the 1997's, you'll also find this uses better piston rings than later model Corvettes so it doesn't leak oil or have "blow-by." This is one tough C5. It has a multi-CD changer in the back compartment, but I'm almost positive the previous owner said it does not work. I've never used it. It has a removable top which rests on supports in the back. If you think these don't have much cargo room, think again. I can fit three sets of golf clubs in the back or over $200 in groceries. I'm also 6'2" and can easily get in and out of this car and drive it very comfortably. Almost all C5's from 1997 to 2004 has issues with the Column Lock. I have purchased and installed a column lock bypass and haven't had a problem with the column locking up since. Here is a reference to that problem: http://forums.corvetteforum.com/show....php?t=1015483
Gas mileage wise, I get about 18MPG in the city at 25MPG on the freeway. This car has seen mostly freeway miles back and forth to work in Provo.
There is only one thing wrong with this car, and that is the driver's side wheel well fender is cracked underneath the car. About a month ago, someone in front of me on the freeway blew out a tire and a piece of it struck the fender. That can be easily fixed. I can either have it fixed ahead of time or negotiate the repair in the price of the car. The leather on the driver's side seat is showing some wear as well, but nothing major. Everything else is great! Call me obsessed, but I know every inch of this car and this is in very good condition. I take very good care of my vettes.
I will also include a very nice car cover for it and a jack mount. On top of that, I still have the four original taillights (included). Somewhere in my storage units I have some service manuals that I will include when I find them.
You can call me at 801-358-3685 (Shayne). I own the car and have the clean title to it. Call me to arrange a test drive. Serious inquiries only. I'm not desperate to sell this car. I'm just ready to buy a C6 when I find the right deal and would like to find a good home for this car.

Dropping the price to $13,995. I would love to make someone happy and give them a deal on this car (rather than selling it to CarMax). It's in excellent condition and well cared for!
