Default F/S 2001 8.50 certed navy blue coupe drag body 27,700 miles - 10k firm

I have a 2001 C5 coupe here that used to be owned by Alan (Asmokegars on CF) that held the supercharging record for a handful of years. I had planned on finishing it as my road race car since I took ownership of the body a little while ago. The problem is that the car is already a certed 8.50 NHRA legal car, with a para chute mount, Kirky seat, line lock, trans brake button, etc etc, and would require a fair amount of changes to be made for the conversion to road racing. Nothing crazy, but enough, and it's a shame to convert a completed drag ready car. So I figured I would gauge some interest in seeing if anyone would like a "turn key" eight second car completed for them, or would like the body to do your own build to it. I would just look for a T1 car or something that I do not have to convert back. It would be faster in the long run for me, and time is always a premium around here, especially for our personal projects.

I have my complete drive train from my convertible that I can freshen up and make a package deal with the car, installed and tuned. I will guaranty the car to be an eight second car if you go with our complete drive train, and will take you to the track and "show you the ropes" of driving an eight second car if necessary.

I will put pricing together upon request since there might different directions people might want to go with it, or parts already owned and so on. We do not have to make an eight second car if that's beyond what you are looking for, but the "deal of the day" is on my 402 Paxton combo from last season which ran a best of 8.63.

The car presently has it's AC & PS, and has a clean title with relatively low mileage. (27.700 miles) The ABS block has been removed, but not the wiring so that can be reinstalled fairly easily if you wish, but I would look at the car as more of a purpose built vehicle for racing since it is fully caged etc. It can, and has always been street driven, but the main focus has been the 1/4 mile with this car.

For a ball park price, that I would have very clearly on paper for the purchaser with a parts list etc, I could put the car together with my engine and SC freshened from last season with a new Power glide/converter for roughly 50k complete, turn key with our 15" wheel kit and coil overs!!

Anyone interested in just the body, it can go for 10k, thats not bad for a clean titled 2 owner car with the cage, seat, chute, batt cut off, line lock, etc etc completed already. Drop your drive train in and go racing!

The car was pulled in and the drive train removed, All wiring harnesses etc are there ready to go, we can supply any of the parts needed if it is being put back together yourself.

some more pics

The pic of the right rear quarter is showing a thin scratch, but it is not bad. I cant even see it in an up close pic, but there is one there. There is also a small scratch on the trunk below the window.

I know I am biased since we did the cage, but I honestly feel this is the nicest 8.50 cage I have ever seen in a C5. We took a lot of time to get the top bars as high as possible, you cant even see it has a cage in the car unless you bend down and look in.

The battery cut off is in the right inner tail light

There is presently no drive train in the car. The car was originally a six spd, then went TH400, the clutch pedal was removed but can be reinstalled if that's what you wished. Although not the path I would recommend for a drag car.
I would suggest a powerglide for best results at the track, or a 4l65 for street/track use.
Let us know what your looking to do with it, and we will try and steer you in the correct path.

Nothing has been lightened in the car other then the air bags and ABS block being removed, which isn't much. I do not recall what it weighed assembled, but the coupes are around 3400ish +-.

Thanks for the offer, but no trades. I have a small fleet of race cars and need to sell one or two of them to make room for the new..

ok, two weeks left until my racing junk add is done, then I'm going to put it together and race it for the season. So if your interested in just the body, you got two weeks.
