2 bar map sensor #12580698 direct replacement for stock sensor?
This is for a 03 C5 Z06. Is this a correct part number for me to use or is part #12569241 the correct one thats a direct fit replacement?
Going SD and need to swap the map sensors out.
This part number is for a 2 bar map sensor (or just called a 2 bar sensor as im not sure if its actually call a "map" sensor with that part number) that most people use. Does it go where the old sensor was and only a press fit or do I need to tap into another vacuum source and plug my stock plug into new sensor and just leave my stock one in place not plugged in?.
And it looks like the intake has to come off to even get to it on the backside or is there and easier way im missing?

I sold my car and if someone is looking for one, I've got it in my drawer. $30 shipped and it works fine.
Sorry for the partial hi-jack. Just trying to save someone a couple of bucks.

As a matter matter of fact you really do not need to remove the manifold to replace the sensor! it can be done by reacing your hand and arm up against the fire wall and popping it up/loose If you your forarm is huge and FAT you might have a problem so either get a person with a smaller arm or pull the mani
You will need to remove (1) one of the ears on the new sensor (It has two (2) ) to match the factory 1 BAR MAP sensor!
Thanks,Matt

Can I also use the 2 bar sensor to go back to 1 bar tune when I need to pass my smog check? I cant do a smog check in SD mode so will need to revert back and hopefully use the 2 bar sensor with 1 bar tune..

You must have your MAF turned on and working! It does not make a difference when it is 2 BAR or 1 BAR when it is Smogged - "ONLY" that the MAF is hooked up and operating!
For Example: I have a 2 BAR SD Tune in the Vette but my MAF is removed, now when it is time for Smog I re-install my MAF and download my MAF'd tune back into the PCM and go get it smogged (I have a '98)
My buddy Joe has an '04 w/MAF and 2 BAR SD Tune and all he has to do is go get it smogged!
Simply put the 2 BAR gives you a bigger table to work with and tune and it wont effect the Smog shops Computer, it wont know the difference from a 2 BAR or 3 BAR or 1 BAR -
"BUT" remember that you might need to adjust the timing and fuel table to pass smog - that is why I have the SMOG Tune on my HP Tuners in my Lap Top - it has the timing adjusted too and fuel tables as well!
The best case scenario is if you have HP Tuners you can have your Performance tune and a Smog tune and just load it when it's time and then re-load the performance tune when all is done "OR" your tuner can help you out doing this (So make sure you talk to your tuner too)

YES! Tuning is required, it is not a plug 'n play, it has different paramiters to work with and bigger tables so one can better tune for FI!
You will need to put in the 2 BAR MAP @ the Tuners shop or if you have HP Tuners your Tuner can shoot you the calibration for the 2 Bar and then come in to have it re-tuned for best performance
Thanks,Matt

BTW, all you need to do for smog is renable the MAF.
