Default Which size headers for AA SC kit

Going to be installing my SC soon and am looking into which size headers get. I've read many threads about 1 3/4 vs 1 7/8. What is the consensus which a SC? I've heard the 1 7/8 can be a PITA to install. Would they be overkill with 7-8 lbs of boost? What is hard about installing the 1 7/8 headers? Obviously they are bigger, but what needs to be done differently?

I think Powerlabs did a back to back comparison of 1 3/4" VS: 1 7/8" on his blown LS2 and found no appreciable gains or losses. My opinion: Get some ebay headers and call it a day. Spend the money you save on other go fast parts.

Nothing really needs to be done differently with the installation of the 17/8th vs the 13/4 (I installed a set of 17/8th on my old c5z on jack stands). As for the difference, you *may* see negligible gains compared the two since you are on a stock block and the stock a&a system so I would get whatever you can find the cheapest. You really only start see gains from larger primaries when you start moving a TON of air (ie: very high boost, larger blowers, etc)

1 3/4 will work fine for what you are going to run. If you plan to upgrade your motor and add more boost, you might want to go with the 1 7/8. My 1 7/8 AR headers went in just as easy as the 1 3/4 LGM headers (maybe a little easier), both where a little of a PITA.

I ran 1 3/4 TPIS headers made 742 RWHP, changed to AR 1 7/8 when they first came out and I made 749 RWHP, not a noticable difference, but the exhaust note was much deeper

If you simply change the exhaust and nothing else, you will likely lose midrange power and gain slightly in top end power. If a tuner maximizes a tune on 1-3/4 headers and then changes to 2", and maximizes the tune again, more power will be found.

I would just go straight to the 1 7/8 headers. Why not get the larger ones the first time? You may decide you want more power down the road where the 1 7/8s will show better gains.

They are the same price, aren't they?

I have 1 3/4" but if I had to do again I would go bigger from the get go.

Yep that's what I did. I got the AR 1 7/8" right off the bat. Don't see a point in going smaller when you most likely will want more power down the road .

I do need to mention that I made over 900RWHP using 1-3/4 Dynatech headers and thats what I've been running all along. Part of my winter project is changing those to 2" headers, which I just received today.
I may have trouble measuring gains because I changed my blower intake and will be changing pulleys too, but I guess I can take the old dongle and pulley with me and try to measure the difference.
