Chris this quesion and the word deal just dont go together. I would say like 4,k for a GOOD shortblock. If you dont get nothing give Nick a p.m. on here he got by BLOWNZ06 and he lives in knoxville tn He had my motor build on the shortblock. It has been to 200 MPH on the dyno and runs great on my set up now. But it is not a 347 bore but he does great work man.... Robert

Right, you can spend alot or a whole lot. I should be fine with some basic upgrades. Just thought I'd cast a line here, as I start calling for quotes.

Hey Chris,
I got mine a few years back from LME in Houston. I used my existing LS1 block and crank and they did Manley rods, Weisco pistons, ARP 2000 rod Bolts, bearings rings etc., custom cam, Melling oil pump, double roller timing set
All for $4k
Just to give you an idea.
I'll also say that Charlie at RPM motors has some killer deals on motors and seems to have a great rep.!!!

I requested like 6 quotes, got 3 back then made my decision. I'm getting a new block with GM crank, some forged pistons/rods and ARP stuff. Still working on the heads & cam...

I didn't realize but this is an LS6 block. A nice surprise! Getting closer, just had to mockup the turbo for a pic. Expecting a fuel system this week.

Very nice looking, Chris!
If you haven't already, you may consider an LS2/3 oil pan. You will be amazed at how much more space you will have up underneath the motor.
Also, I love that timing cover. That will be on my list one day for a new motor.
