Will a LS3 Throttle Body from 09+ work with a 04 PCM
I had my car on the dyno today and it started throwing a P1516 Throttle Actuator Control (TAC) Module Throttle Actuator Position Performance code with a 09+ LS3 TB installed at WOT (GM 12605109). This is the first time I've gone WOT with my new TB/ engine. I've done a bunch of reading for this, check connections and grounds etc. I've also read that I need a 05-08 TB (GM 12570790) for my PCM.
Is anyone running the newer style TB on a C5 with any luck or do I need to buy the older TB?
The code will also happen with the car off and the ignition on by cycling the throttle to WOT intermittently.

I have found them not to work Mike, but I just replaced it with an LS2, I didnt take the time to try and find out why.

Car runs fine like you said, pushing it on the dyno caused the code and limp mode. I just ordered a LS2 TB, hopefully I'll be able to get back to dyno work at the end of next week. I'd like to make it up to the East Coast Shootout on the 12th if I can work all the bugs out of my car...

Good, I'll look for you and say hi.

the gold blades flip the opposite direction then the LS1/2/6, this is the reason they don't work w/ the older PCM's
On a N/A car where you don't flip the TB to clear the blower bracket, this is preferable, but since you'll probably need to flip the LS2 TB upside down the blade will tilt back, the more preferable way.

I'd have to think it's a software compatibility issue with the hardware.

I guess I'll be the nice guy and let the secret out. The reason why the LS3 does not work in a C5 is because when you go WOT the blade actually opens past 100%. That's when the car goes into REP mode.
If you go into the tune and set your max WOT to 90%, the blade actually opens 100% and the car does not go into REP.
I have wondered if that's why a C6 shows it's max throttle position to be in the 80's, 86 I think, instead of 100% in data logs. Not sure on that one though.

Must be why some gen 4 stuff don't read 100% in the data logs.

The NW T/B's get over powered by boost usually, More blade then the motor can handle with a lot of boost pushing on it. Just go into your tune and adjust the max WOT like we do for the index classes. Same thing.

Hey Doug how ya been? I remember you telling me that about the boost pushing on the blade.I don't even run the car at 100% any way.Awhile back efilive had a bug in one of there updates that was causing reduced power mode. This Sunday will be my 1st day out this year Setting up the car to run in the 10.00 index should be fun.
