I have been thinking about going with the 1" shorter rad and new inlet pipe on the s/c. I spoke with A&A and they don't believe that this mod adds anything to the overall power. What's your thoughts on this mod? Obviously you did multiple things at once to your Z (gutted cats, more tuning, inlet pipe).
I need to schedule some dyno time!!!
Andy may be referring to his newer dongle. I have the original. Honestly, and not anything against A&A, it was a POS. I gained 1.5-2psi up top, but the mid range was HUGE. My 50-50 meth/water mix was no longer enough octane, and I had to remove timing in the mid range even once I switched to 100% meth.

That mod was worth the effort to me b/c pulleying down was not a good option. Otherwise I probably would just do that.

I believe mine is the newer dongle. They advised me against going with anything other than a 4.0 pulley (stock internals). I think the mod would be worth it plus I noticed this summer that my temps would go up (really hot days). That never happened prior to the s/c. I really want to either forge this motor or go with a 408 forged and pulley down.

I am not running a stock balancer. I don't believe you can with an 8-rib setup.

I have 100's of runs with this setup making in the low 700's already. Hell, maybe over a 1k.
Missed that part.

Ok good... crazy this thing is staying together making me want to pulley down but I will continue to resist the temptation lol

I hope it continues to hang in there I guess if it doesn't detonate it will survive for the most part

Well, I have a spare shortblock already. I might not use it, but I intend to put a new motor in there in a year or so. Without detonation I'd expect it to just develop a little blowby or bend the rods. I spin in to 7k sometimes also. I'm willing to just see what happens.

That is great to see a stock bottom over 700 and holding well. I am shooting for 700+ as well in the spring, Just hope my motor likes 14lbs of boost with race fuel, other wise I will have the coolest looking LS1 coffee table!

Lots of people are doing it. Obviously the tune has to be great and/or conservative. Then other factors come into play like how well your rings are seated, etc. That is my thinking on it anyway.

I'll go to 14lbs in the spring if your short block is still in one piece!

Doug (ECS) will be retuning my car in the spring, so I feel very confident in his tuning abilities!

How is your fuel system keeping up with that power level? Or are you just throwing in huge amounts of Meth?

I have a BAP, 255 in tank, and I am running a return-style system. I don't believe the meth is needed to supply enough fuel.

Not to take away from this thread but I have a simple kit that converts any 99-02 fuel system to a return style.

It really made a HUGE difference. AFR was 11.5 back when it made 690, and relied on meth for enough fuel. The wideband was pegged past 10.0:1 after adding the line with no other changes.

It can't be done. ticking time bomb. only a matter of time. something something kaboom.

I remember when I used to think 14# was a lot.
