Can i run mid 9's with my setup
ENGINE mods:
-Lingenfelter 427ci ls1 block with darton sleeves de-stroked to 387CI(all bore)
-eagle forged crank (stock stroke)
-forged lunati rods
-forged je pistons (9.3:1)
-AFR 205cc heads
-A&A stage 4 cam (232,240 duration .595, .609 lift 116*LSA)
-hardend push rods, double beehive valve springs
-katech c5r timing chain
-75lb RC injectors
-A&A procharger (D1SC) w/intercooler running a 3.7 pulley 13psi
-lg long tube headers
-ATI 8 rib pulley's
-hi-volume meiling oil pump
-hi-flow evans water pump
-ron davis 4 core radiator
-97/98 Return fuel line w/aeromotive FPR
-aeromotive stealth 340 fuel pump
-kenne bell boost a pump
-ARP fasteners throughout
-Borla Stinger 4" quad tips
-line locks
-alky control methanol injection kit
-maf delete/2bar MAP
DRIVELINE mods:
-tick master cyclinder
-rpm level 5 t56
-rpm level 2 diff (3.42)
-c6 z06 axles
-micro-polished gears, HD clutches
-DTE diff strut
-RAM 10.5 dual disk clutch
Im installing an x-pipe tomorrow all exhaust 2.5" from headers back
I will be making some changes over the winter and spring months.
adding a N2mb wot box allows for No lift shifting and 2step launch control
Switching to a 3 bar map sensor
dropping to a 3.4 blower pulley hoping to see 18psi
adding a 50wet shot of Nitrous and obviosly will be retuned.
The car put down 675/640 on a very conservative tune, very rich up top. with new changes im shooting for 800rwhp. Should be very doable as i have seen builds with stock cubes make more power then me.

I would say NO. Reason being it's a M6. So hard to make one fast. I don't know how many cars I have seen with a stick that can't run 9's with much higher HP than your goal is. If you do you will have a garage full of broken parts. I love a manual as much as the next but I got tired of breaking stuff. I don't know how many diff shafts I broke when I was M6. Broke main shaft off trans, broke I would say 4 or 5 long shafts one short shaft. 1 axle and a 2 step will mess stuff up. Don't this sound like fun? lol

I know auto is best but I like m6 and want a challenge. Breaking parts is not fun but that comes with racing car has only seen the track a few times. This more like a life goal to have a 9sec car and bike. I also have a nitrous hayabusa

Yeah it's a challenge. My shifting sucks and I went 10.2@142 on about 700rwhp. I always had trouble shifting with a single disc clutch. You gotta do everything just right and if you're not NHRA legal to run 9's, you'll get 1 chance to hit the number, then you're kicked out. Maybe mount a camera so we can watch you go. Here's a 2step launch about 5K.

Damn that was a hard launch. But time was good I think. I wouldn't be disappointed with it. Ya i plan on having all my runs recorded but will be outside the car. Also I want a cage but a bolt in don't wanna hack up the car as its not a track car just a street car that sees the track lol.

Are you switching something before you floor it????

I had great luck with my M6 at first running 9.80's on a 100 shot with built drivetrain. I installed a 2 step and it went down hill from there. I broke my unknown brand long shaft that came with the car, bell housing, rearend case, gears and a axle all 1 failed launch. The long shaft I had was awesome. I had 2 years of 1.3x and 1.4x 60ft launches without failure. I was unable to get another long shaft to hold up and did not know who made the one that worked so well. I went through several manufactures and 5 or 6 new 300m shafts before I said screw it and went auto. This was the case with several other cars that I work on. All have been converted to auto and have not looked back.
You see most all the high HP boosted manual vettes have trouble running 9's. Go auto and it's a cake walk.
The key is how you launch the car. You want the clutch to slip taking off or you want the tires to spin a little.

It should make enough power if you can hook and drive it. The problem is all the broken parts like others mentioned. An m6 c5 is not the best platform for single digit ET's.

427 TTIX 6 speed
it can be done on a regular basis with a well built car and a good driver... here's one of our locals: (but you WILL be buying a lot of parts)

Muncie is one of those tracks, you might be able to get away with 9's without an NHRA license. I think Arun went 8's there, without a roll bar. Probly even wore flip flops.

First you are going to need 28" tires and QA1 shocks or coilovers.
Second you need lots of practice on the launch and shifting
Third lots of money to replace the broken pieces
Fourth an auto conversion
Nothing is impossible with enough time and money

Plus you could do a 4 link set up in the car and would be alot better on the 60ft time for sure.... Robert

I would say high 9 s is more like a obtainable goal , although there will be some drive line issues along the way. 2 step is rough on parts but good for consistency . The clutch is key and I have heard good things of the one your using . I would invest in a RPM 6060 conversion .
Here are a couple of vid's of high to mid 9 s ..
