Nice little 12.40 car there....
Then I remember the X and F cams came out, along with the TFS heads.... Then DSS started selling crate short/long blocks for them back in the mid 90s...
Could definitely build fast cars out of a 5.0...
A local down here had a black 5.0 coupe with a 306/ Vortech that ran 10.40s with a stick.... HE was the baddest in the land back then... circa 92'-93'.... He was a relatively young guy too... I think his parents gave him lots of moola...

Cool thread Arun.
Supercharged my first car in 1990/1, it was 89 IROC. That car is in my garage at home right now. It went from an SN93 with the 305 (total pig by todays standards) to now it has a Dart bowtie block with Brodex heads and an F2. With custom ECS brackets of course.
The rest is history.

Have you guys ever run into Nitrous Pete, Jimmy LaRocca or Craig Radovitch and David Zurallow?
Then in Texas there was Mike Murillo.
And on the West Coast there was J.R. Granatelli-the guy that brought us the Novi 2000!

69 mach 1 428c 4 speed after HS for a few years then the Heartbeat of America had a better Idea. Bought a x pro stock pinto and we stuffed a Charley Tayler 377 SBC and a glide in her. He was out of Lumberton NC.... way back in 1981
668hp 1845 pound ride....
Now have two supercharged cars ones the vette, and the 243 inch Mike Bos Rail.
All started with Hot Rod Mag and helping the guys across the street push a 57 nomad up and down that street 10,000 times trying to get it to crank back in the late 60s. Didn't know crap about a car but that yellow 57 sure was cool.. Still love yellow and Still love the speed,. You never lose that.
PS,, You got me laughing on the headlight switch. Yes, several..
Old Pinto. 5.7s in the 1/8th
SC Saturn Sky. 13.1
SC Vette.................11's
Dragster.....................7.80s
We're talking about old times. Check out the sticker on the rear of the rail.. Old moon eyes. That's from my beginning back in the 60s/70s ..... Old guys still rule....
Trailer does two things. Pulls the rail most of the time and we put the vette in there and carry it to shows.
Do a lot of offshore fishing in NC and Va so camper gets used full time on the dodge for racing, vette shows, and fishing. .

I know all those guys, some very well. Mike Murillo was at the LSX shootout too.
I never personally had a Fox body, they were my competition, but they had the upper hand most of the time. My brother had a 69 Mach 1 for a while, but that was the only Mustang I drove regularly.
I did supercharge a TON of them though, I literally bought the supercharger kits ten at a time.
My car list that I can remember anyway; (the ones that count anyway)
67 GTO 400/4spd 4.11's ran high 12's which was fast then (late 80's)
68 firebird 400/power glide -street tubbed four link
68 AMX Javilin NOS car
78 Camaro 383
about 20 different C3's that I bought and flipped
84 C4 vert
97 Camaro NOS car runs 9's stock bottom end, still have it.
98 C5 100% street car, runs 8's. Still have it
C6 road racer, still have it.

Cool thread. I was given an '87 Mustang GT as a gift for getting a 4.2GPA in high school ha. That was t-boned by some old guy and totalled. Then I got a '93 Cobra. That car was awesome! First time at the track it ran a best of 14.0. Not great but it was fun. That car was rolled in a pretty bad accident with me as the driver. Then moved into the LS world with a '99 T/A that I put 4.11 gears in and 315s out back, that was the most fun car besides the Vette that I own now. Good times with all those cars.

Another old school Mustang story I remembered... A buddy of ours our Sophomore year(93') got hit by a city dump truck. He was awarded a bit of money for his pain/suffering and totaling out his Camry...
He ran down and bought a brand new black 93 Cobra. Within about month he bought a pro-charger kit for it with the lay down air to air intercooler etc... I still remember the Pro-Charger sales adds from the time.. "Outrageous Pro Charger power!" and listed the stock 5.0 with the base Pro charger kit as running 12.2@118 mph.
So anyway my buddy bought the Pro Charger kit and had a local guru install it all and tune it. Well they constantly had belt issues with it... Finally they put a cog set up on it, then they couldnt keep head gaskets in it. He had the stock heads(GT40) ported/surfaced and a mild cam put in it. He still had stock mufflers on it so it was quiet as could be and a sleeper from hell....Still on stock Cobra saw blade type wheels.
No idea of the power of it because there was no chasis dynos back then but that car was a monster on the highway. It was the baddest car in high school for sure...Definitely the fastest car I had ever rode in, especially from 3rd gear on...even probably into my mid 20s..
We tried to run it at the track several times but it always broke or blew head gaskets. Once it spun the rims inside of the MT Sportsman Pros and broke the beads on both of them and both tires went flat before the 1-2 shift...
We all thought it would go into the 10s if he could ever get a clean pass but it never happened.
Eventually he got tired of messing with it and sold it and bought another Camry...... seriously.
Ahhh... The good ole days...

88' LX 5.0 convertible here - first car in high school. Still have it (parked out in a field) and will learn how to work on engines / drive train etc with what's in it. When that's understood, I'd like to make it a project - dedicated 1/4 car. Should be fun!
That said, my Vette bug was already in the blood (wanted to restore a split window but time wouldn't permit in high school). This picture given to me on my 18th b-day put me over the edge to get an '06 Z06 for a host of reasons. The rest is history.
Fun thread, Arun

This looks exactly like my 3rd Mustang...also an '88 GT. I have had (I think) 13 Mustangs....12 V8s and one SVO.
My most recent were an '05 GT with a forged shortblock and an On3 70mm turbo kit that made 560rwhp at 17lbs and 638rwhp (and 703rwtq!) on 21lbs, and a '99 GT convertible with a forged shortblock, heads/cams, and an On3 76mm turbo kit. That one made 680rwhp and 696rwhp at 24lbs, and I drove it that way pretty much every day.
Mustangs and Vettes are my thing. My parents owned a '67 Convertible from 1973 until they got divorced in 1986 (I was 10 at the time). I remember it driving away. Long story short, my dad passed away in 2003 and we tried to buy it from the current owner, but he wasn't selling. He called in 2009 to say it was for sale but we couldn't do it because we just bought a new house, so I had to see it slip away again. Sad times.

My Stangs...
Love me some fox stangs, the blue one was my first car at 16, it's been modded a few different times. Got the grey one in 97...
YSi + 20 psi + 351" shortstroke Aluminum Dart + Griggs GR40
Used to have a YSi + 16 psi + 408" B51
Now it's going to be TT 72MM Precisions + 15-20 psi + 374" big bore W351 solid roller 8k rpm. Hoping for 1600 rw when it's "done" which at this rate will be in 2015 or so.

WOW, a lot of cool rides from the past.
I spent all my time on a custom Ford van back in the 70's/80's
Deep dish wheels, 50 series tires, molded flares, spoilers, zoom's, skylights, custom interior, the works.
Built the 351 motor, swapped in a 4 speed (Hurst floor shifter baby)
Even drag raced with it, most fun I ever had.

Grew up with mustangs
When I was born my mom had 84 GT 5 speed with t-tops had it til i was like 3. Then in 93 she bought a Lx 5.0 5 speed that was a special order demo car ( was fast as hell). Never got to own my own in High School, but as soon as I graduated from College I bought 84 Gt with the 88 front clip and GT ground effect kit 358 ci with 4.10s was a street car that ran off race gas... Was fast in the highway... Decided to turn into a track car, wen through motor changed cam to nitrous grind updated to a 12pt cage, coilovers and rear double adjustable suspension and NOS Big shot kit. Never got to shoot the gas but ran 7.20s on motor think it will run 6.10s on good nitrous tune. still have and its for sale...
