Instead of sleeping in, I did more LSA head testing!
So as promised I was going to get these LSA castings flowed and the chambers CC'd before getting them CNC ported.
I went to a local shop to get some independent results. The shop I use is Forrest and Forrest-these guys have been around my area for long time and do alot of old school SBC, BBC stuff and are super knowledgeable.
I wanted there opinion and right away they were impressed with the castings-especially the chamber. For and as-cast head-it's impressive.
The chambers came in at 68.5 to 69cc's.
These were flowed on a 4" bore with a 1.75" pipe on the exhaust.
Now realize-every flow bench is different-let's not get hung up on numbers. I wanted a baseline-and will reflow them after Charlie@RPM motors does his CNC port program on the heads.
I will then do a valve job and reflow them-to see how much a good valve job is worth.
I have nice cam in mind for these heads already-something that will have nice street manners but make big power.

Looking good...........have you calc'ed C/D numbers yet ?? Also, Richard is said to have a good program for these......
If these are for your combo.....what is it going to be ??
Thanks..............funny how some chit talking can inspire the next build.(Georgia bs)

I like that you brought them to an old school shop. Those guys will see things most won't.
The more data I see on these, the more i'm glad I have a set on my 402.
Thanks again for the efforts Arun!

Oh, and I find it very impressive that the intake still didn't turn over at .700" lift even though it has the swirl extrusion.. For that matter, even the exhaust was still climbing at .700". Nice!

Yes Sami , they can be used with the LS1/6 , along with any injectors LS style . Intake is no problem as well .

It will require a ls3 style intake and a 4.00" bore so that's not exactly true. They will bolt to a ls1/6 block but will not work on that small of a bore. Injectors are also different.

Yes and no , you can get small bore LSA heads that work on the LS1/6 . Yes I should have clarifed the need for an LS3 style intake . The injectors can be used with an adaptor harness .

Anything "can" be used, just depends how much time you want to put into modifying parts... Ls1 style injectors will work in the intake, you just need thicker lower o-rings and the rails will need to be raised as they are longer. With aftermarket rails and ls1 injectors you would need to make custom rail stands, shave down the bolt hole bosses and cut the mounting bolts down as well to make everything fit. I have done this in the past with a ls2 intake and ls1 injectors and plan to do the same with a ls3 intake as there is no reason to get different injectors. Still unsure of what you mean by small bore lsa heads.... Considering how they are cast and valve placement I would not recommend puttin them on a sub 4" bore engine.

GM makes a small bore 3.900 - 3.960 rectangular head , its not exactly an LSA head , but more of an LS3 type >
Here are some number's from MAST Performance that also sells these heads:

• Uses a 2.080" intake valve and 1.570" exhaust valve
• Has a 63cc combustion chamber standard
• Has a deck thickness of .750"
Each Mast Black Label cylinder head assembly includes:

I was looking at these for myself , as I wanted to put the new Maggie Heart Beat on my LS1 . Since they only currently have an LS3 version , these heads would work . This is more of what I was getting at for Sami .
Late night /early morning so I was just a tad lazy to post up all the info .

I was aware of what is available from mast. Good I for for others. My point was that the lsa head, the $170 gm casting, will not work on a ls1/6 due to the cylinder bore. They will bolt on, but I wouldn't start it! I like challenges and projects as well and if I can make things work without buyin new parts I usually will. But most of the people on this forum do not have the ability or the machinery to do so. Most just want something that is a direct bolt on, these arnt.
My heads will be going out with Aruns, can't wait to see how they perform.

Yes , I agree with you , really depends on how much time you are willing to spend on a project . Some like myself , like challenges like this , so I make it a personal project .

I am sure you will be very pleased with the LSA's . Arun has been doing quite a bit of research on these . Should make for some great discussion on here . We are very eager to see the results .
