Default Kenne Bell twin screw question

So my c5 has a twin screw unit installed the car runs perfect except I get a P0171 code (lean on bank one) this only happens when I oil the K&N air filter. I try and oil it lightly but I still get the code for a couple days then it stops. Is this something to worry about?

Also just so you guys know the air filter clamps directly to my MAF.
I think oil is getting on the MAF and causing the code.

What do you guys think?

Also the CEL does not come on while driving. It comes on after the car sits and is re-stared after a run if that makes a difference.

O.k. since no one else will touch this since its KB.

Answer is yes it probably is oil on the MAF wires. If it were me I would switch to a dry filter element and stay away from K&N.

Have there been issues with the KB setups?

It seems to run great for me.

No man, im not kidding. Im not kidding one bit. Leave it as it came from Kenne bell. Do not try to pulley it down, dont try to do ANYTHING to increase power further. If you leave it alone, it will be fine.

It is a HORRIBLE design and does not work well in the corvette platform.. Kenne bell doesnt make it or support it anymore for a reason.

To the OP here he is not pulling your leg here at all. No touch it in any way to get more out of it.

If you ever want more power sell it if you can and go with ECS or A/A YSI set up.. Unless you plan on going FULL RACE then TURBO,S all out race with the car..... Robert

Thanks you just made my day. I just bought this car thinking it was a good deal looks like it is just a pile.

I guess I should have researched it more.

Live and learn I guess.

I think it's fair to say kb isn't the greatest for high hp or fast et but for your everyday driver it will be fine. Are you going to be the fastest no, will you be faster the most cars out there yes. If you are content with how fast it is now your fine, don't mod it. I will tell you what you think is fast now won't seem as fast in 2 months. Then it all begins, that's when it's time to sell the kb and not mod it and get a ecs kit. There is lots of stuff out there about trying to upgrade the screws on the c5 platform.

Thanks for the advice. All I am after is good reliable street driving power.
I will never track the car. I will also not be at the drag strip running.
It is fun to smoke a mustang or M3 on the highway here and there I must say.

This is plenty for me. I know what you mean about what's fast today is not fast tomorrow. My STI feels very slow after the Vette.

Again as long as it is reliable it all I need.

Which KB do you have? Just curious if you have the 2.8 or the 3.6. Better info is available on your KB from Gen5 Camaro forums or ls1 tech. There are a lot more Gen5 Camaros running around with KBs than Corvettes due to some bad blood and history, lol.

NITRO UK, sic looking underhood ya have there, Reallly nice! Just wondering what you have going on where the factory fog lights would be?

OP, your car is not a pile. Enjoy it the way it is and as long as your good with the power it makes whats not to like? Bet it a ton of fun with low end TQ, get ready to buy some new tires!

Believe it or not 4DRUSH wasn't taking a shot at your wife, basically he's saying way to crush a happy new owner guys. He has a twisted sense of humor that one.

Good luck with the ride and enjoy it,

PC

BTW, car looks great but whats with the black car in the background parked in the drive?
