I am looking at doing some standing mile racing this year and was just watching this Mat Farah video on taking a CTS-V wagon and tuned C6 to el mirage dry lake bed in CA to make some top speed runs

Looks like fun plus it isn't too far from where I live so I am tempted to head out there.

Anyone in here ever ran there? Wondering if it is as easy at it looks in the video of basically just showing up and making runs?

I've been there to watch friends run. Drove my Silverado, took months to get all the fine dirt silt out of everything.

oh yeah, didn't think about how much that dirt must suck....

were you there during an event? did your friends just drive up and pretty much go for it?

I am trying to understand what kind of tech process or regulations, etc they have from someone who has been there and just how it goes down there so I can be prepared.
