I Need My Novi 2000 Blower Rebuilt - Recommendations??
What's up guys - so I have a Paxton Novi 2000 Head Unit that I've been running between 18 - 22 lbs of boost through for the past couple years and it just started leaking oil out of the rear. I pulled the blower and there is no shaft play - it spins very nicely; I'm thinking the rear seal took a ****. Oh well. The last time it was rebuilt was about 7-8 years ago by Paxton but now they are telling me they can't rebuild it because they updated their design.
Can you guys recommend me a good rebuilder for centri blowers that know what they are doing?
I've spoken to both Jon Bond Performance and 928 Motorsports and both companies are very nice, and sound like they've been around the block. Never had a chance to deal with either so if you've had experience, let me know! Recommendations are appreciated guys!

You can get seals locally too. I've always found them at carquest or napa. Super easy. I've replaced 3 of them now.

I was planning on putting new seals in mine too, but I don't know how to tell what seals need replaced. Input/output shaft seals or case O-rings? Is there a way to tell which is the culprit?

Replacing a seal is pretty straight forward if you would like to try it yourself. You can get the seal at www.superchargerrebuilds.com

I do all the work on all my cars minus machining so I don't have a problem giving it a shot. If it's straight forward then I'll start taking it apart this week and see what needs to happen. I'll let you know if I need help! Thanks a lot brother!
Right - I found them locally at the same places. I'll try to knock it out this week. Thanks man!

Just as easy as replacing any other seal Use a pick/seal puller to remove, and then press new one in. Mine got taken out when a belt broke and got wrapped around the shaft and killed the seal.

I went on a couple other forums and found some great info on rebuilding them. I think I might take the front cover off to at least inspect everything but judging from how well the blower was doing prior to the oil leak, I may end up just replacing the seal.

I did mine on the car twice without doing anything but removing the pulley. Just pop the seal out and push the new one in.

Ok so I got a couple questions. I got the new seal in the mail. Everywhere I look online I see the front cover on the blower having this type industrial seal:
This is NOT my blower, just an example of the seal
I started taking apart my head unit and this is what I see:
This is MY head unit
This is inside the front cover:
Upon further inspection of the blower. Good news - Bearings are in great shape and the gears look perfect as well.
Has anyone dealt with this type of seal? Or know what is needed to replace it?
Thanks in advance!

Actually, I should have just looked at it closer before posting all that above. Looks like it knocks out the same way as the other seal. The outside was just throwing me off. Going to knock it out now and put the new seal in. No more confusion lol.

In case it helps the future readers:
I pull the seals out by carefully running a drywall screw in (just a little) and using a hammer claw to pull it out. :-)

That is a good tip. I decided to take the front cover off anyway to inspect but if someone knows it definitely the seal then this is a simple way of doing it

By the way - I figured I go ahead and post the update for those that want to see. The seal definitely failed. It was pretty rough.
Here is the new seal next to the old one:
Here it is freshly seated onto the front cover:
Here is the front cover bolted back in. I figured out you have to be very careful putting the cover onto the shaft or you risk damaging the new oil seal. It's easier to slip on if you put a light film of oil on the lip (similar to how you install a rear main seal) and then use the carboard that the seal was packaged in to make sure the lip doesn't fold over when pressing the cover onto the shaft. This is because the ID of the new seal is a tighter fit since it's of course brand new.
Here is everything buttoned back up. Next step is to install and we should be in good shape

The front housing seal is just a large O-ring. I didn't replace mine since it looked to be in perfect shape. But I've heard from others if you just head down to your local parts store; they should carry them and the price is around $1.00 or so.
