What rear wheels and tires for 700+hp C5?
I am moving from 550whp/660Nm to 700+hp/800Nm in a turbocharged C5. Already with 550/660 it lacked a bit of traction. Now the problem can be only bigger.
Do you have any experience with replacing stock rear tires/wheels with wider ones? eg. these from C6 Z06 325/30/19.
As it is a street car the wheels cannot stick out from the fenders and I wouldn't like to change the diameter of the wheels.
Would appreciate any advice.

I have 305/35/19 nitto nt05r's on my ccw's and they work really well... mt et street 2's and toyo r888's are a couple more you may consider for the street... with the 35 profile they are pretty tall and my driver side tire wore a small hole in the fender liner, it just depends on how low your car is... stock ride height probably wouldn't be a problem

OP,
If you are going to be at that power level, Nittos will spin on the street...unless you have a wide rear tire and can put a 345 on the back. I'd drop to a 17 in the back and put an ET Street on it. There is no comparison between a Nitto and ET Street...the ET street is twice as sticky. I have about 850whp...

IMO
Street strip- Toyo R888
Mainly drags and straight pulls on street-Micky ET or Nitto NT05R
Alpha GTR buddy of mine got some M&H race master drag radials that are supposedly pretty damn good and work better or a less prepped surface than a Micky but not quite as good as Micky on full race prepped track. Test n tune stuff usually is not prepped the best anyway.
Anyone here ever used them? His are 325/40/18 lots of sidewall

Think there would be any issues with a stock 265 up front and the 305/35/18 on rear for street kill mode?

What kind of power are you making?

Drifting
Drag radials will fix your traction issues, but from what I find it is a trade off.
Move Traction = Stickier Rubber = Shorter Tire Life
I am running 305 wide NT05r's. I can dead hook 2nd gear at 60mph.

It is true, you will sacrifice in the handling department if you want to hook up in the straight line. The best combination for both, IMHO, would be to install the fender flares and more to a wider wheel (13) that can accommodate a 345 wide tire. Then you could run a Hoosier R6, Michelin Pilot Sport Cup, or even a Nitto. I know a lot of guys over on the Viper Alley are running the R6 and it holds good for 700 and up HP. You would have good traction and handling.

new tpe flares plus paint ~ $1400
new rear set of ccw's ~ $1500
new rear tires ~ $700
so I'm looking at 3k plus for the setup, I could probably recoup half of it by selling my rear wheels and tires
