Ben, are you planning on doing any kind of individual cylinder afr monitoring?

Modern stuff is pretty reliable though, biggest risk is a nylon push fitting leaking or hose coming undone.

Here we go.

Good one, Chris.

I'm planning to check each plug for timing and fueling. I'm not really looking to purchase any additional logging equipment. The nozzles are right above the injectors so distribution should be much better.

Put in a couple hours work last night. All the stuff on the original short list is done except for adding the coolant. I'll do that tonight.

The intake is now ready to install. I custom bent the tubing to avoid the firewall on the passenger side.

Where has the time gone?
I should have worked on the car last Friday, but I got a little side project to do some welding and worked on it instead. I'm really enjoying the practice.

50mm BOV flange welded

Removed a small bore pipe from another charge pipe. This was 409L. I polished it after the final picture and it looks decent.

Saturday, we took the car that my daughter and I built to the track for some practice.

Sunday evening, I started adding coolant to the car and it began pouring out of the passenger side head. The coolant port plug was left out and I didn't have a spare so I moved on to something else after cleaning up the leak.

I moved on to the final items for the meth kit hoping to install the intake. I got the new solenoid mounted and hooked all the lines up for a pressure test. The 3/8" to 1/4" tubing reducer fitting was leaking badly.

Here is the solenoid mounted on the firewall. The tee supplies the 8 nozzles in the intake and the 2 additional nozzles in the charge pipe. You can barely see the reducer fitting for the supply line to the bottom right of the picture.

After cutting the hose square and testing the system again, it was clear that the fitting was not going to work. The good news is that the direct port nozzles on the intake aren't leaking. We'll have to see how they work soon with 20 psi of manifold pressure.

I called up Snow and talked to them and they agreed to sell just the reducer fitting. It should be here this week.

However after thinking about the location of the solenoid, the fact that the meth feed line would be near the driver side turbo manifold, and the large 3/8" line is stiff and doesn't want to bend, I have decided to convert this portion of the system to threaded fittings and AN hose.

I pulled the top of the pump off last night.

Then, since I'm waiting, started working on a shield for the external fuel pump and relays that are in the rear driver side fender area.

The outlet side of the pump was tapped today. There is just barely enough material for a 3/8" NPT tap. The fitting shown is just for reference. I will thread and epoxy a -6AN x 3/8" NPT fitting and then run -6AN PTFE braided hose to a -6AN x 1/8" NPT fitting at the solenoid. All of these parts have been ordered and will be here by Friday.

Looking good Ben. All my pumps have already been tapped with NPT threads. Was yours different? Or had you already done some modifications to it? I changed mine as well and got away from the Gas fittings that Alky control uses, and also stopped using his nozzles. They work fine, they just don't look very good. Where did you end up getting the coolant plug from? Keep up the good work man your almost there. And on the welding, looking like your getting the hang of it. Takes practice, something I need a WHOLE lot of lol!

Thanks, Jeff. The welding is getting there but I need more practice to get the "look". Going to practice on some stainless this weekend. I may try a 1/16" tungsten and 1/16 filler rod.

This is Snow's upgraded pump that has 3/8 push-to-connect fittings. I bought it for this build and was using it on the new engine. As mentioned, the 3/8 to 1/4 push to connect reducer fitting had started leaking after less than 2000 miles. It was originally up near the front of the car right before the solenoid for the two original nozzles.

I started thinking about ways to convert this pump to get rid of the reducer fitting and also switch to braided hose near the exhaust manifold. They offer what they call a threaded fitting pump but it was going to be another $160. I removed the fitting in the pump and was left with a 0.625" bore. The 3/8 NPT standard calls for a 0.571" hole prior to tapping but I figured I had nothing to lose. Here's the finished product with the fitting seated about 1/16" from the bottom. It should hold right?

I believe it will. If its tight it should seal pretty well in the plastic. when I installed the NPT to AN fitting mine bottomed out, but doesn't leak etc... We fired up Bills car tonight. So all looks good for him other that a leaky power steering pump. You have to be right there as well right?

Yes, waiting on a pre-built braided hose and one fitting to show up today. I can then install the intake and wrap up a few small items. It should be cranked this weekend and hopefully road tested if all goes well.

It's alive again. It took most of the evening to get all the little stuff hooked up and routed. 10# of stuff in a 5# bag comes to mind in regards to all the fuel lines, meth lines, electrical, vacuum hoses, boost lines, breather hoses, etc.

It fired right up and idled great but it dies when you touch the throttle or if the fans kick on. I'll get it sorted out this week.
