got some parts back from the coater, came out killer!
just need to do some sanding on the alt bracket since it needs to be "grounded" to the block/head

also, talked with my engine builder. upon tear down he found NOTHING wrong with the engine. everything looked brand new. ill never know where the metal came from but my theory is it was trapped in the arp stud grease in the head and the last time on the dyno it shook some of the crap loose and i found it in the filter. oh well better safe then sorry. I'm taking advantage of this by upgrading my cam and lifters and the builder is going to replace rings/bearings and call it good.

That stuff looks awesome.. looks very UGR..

Can't wait to see yours running again and turned up.

I saw the video of Joe running some stangs with your old Novi...old kit still putting in work.

yea came out sweet. won't be able to see anything turbo related at all, even the meth nozzles got coated lol.

and yea he showed me that vid, can't wait to see that car turned up. should be a beast. i think its cool we both can watch our old setups put in work and yet i think we are both happy with our deal. don't see that happen often.

well, everything should be coming back very soon. i got the clutch back from rebuild and the engine builder is just waiting on a new timing set. he found my old one (slp i believe) was very stretched out and it started to where the gears down... pretty sad since the motor only had about 8k miles on it (most likely where the metal came from) he also replaced all the valve seals since he found 2 that were letting a little oil in...

Stock gears and C5/6R chain FTW. Aftermarket timing sets are less reliable from my experience.

builder said he ordered something like a cloydes or loyds or something? i couldn't really understand him on the phone. said it comes with a oversized gear to take up the slack. idk, leaving it up to him at this point, seems to know what his talking about.

I had a rollmaster dual break one link and found the pieces on my oil plug magnet. I run the c5r chain with new stock gears and a guide now for the last 7 years or so. While they do seem to have slack I have a feeling the aluminum blocks growing does tighten them up a tad.

Default ree.....

cloyes is the way to go from what im told .....on the motor part what i have personally had probs with that took a long time to figure out on motrs was powdercoating ,,,,before they powdercoat they media blast the valvecovers causing media [sand, nuts ,etc] to get caught in the valleys of the covers and eventually finding its way into the motor .something to keeep an eye out for also was the oil blown out of the turbos when ya got them maybe they caught something in them ?

Nothing was powder coated when the motor was in the car, everything is fresh. Plus these valve covers don't have baffles for the sand etc to get stuck in. I think the metal I found is from the gears wearing down on the timing set. Makes a lot of sense.

My Rollmaster double also had 8k miles with a ton of slack in it... I was surprised. The engine builder said it was still within spec and pretty normal to have that much slack.....but...I just ordered another one. Hopefully I have better luck with it.

Well if its an AL block that is normal as the block grows a lot. There was a video on Youtube where they heated the block with a small torch to simulate engine temps ets... They chain got tight quick lol! Iron blocks don't grow nearly as much. Bill had his Double roller break so he went to a C5/6R chain like I recomended after filling him in on some info. And the stock chains and gears almost always DEAD on when I've checked the degreeing of the cam. Some times not all the aftermarket parts are better and this is one of those areas. GL!
