New Z06
(To me)
First off. I'd like to thank Matt E (Z06ME) for the purchase of his vehicle. He was the easiest, most thorough, friendly person I've ever bought a used vehicle from.
The car is a forged 346 with a ECS Novi 2500 with Arun Stage 3's cam. Arun and myself talked quite a bit about cam specs years ago since I speced my C6 cam and we were pretty close(he knows 10,000x more than I do on cams, etc). After the lists of mods, studying Matt's posts, feeling him out over the phone, him directly taking the car to the dyno with a full graph and AFR, doing a full compression test, etc for me, it was a no brainer.
I flew up yesterday morning to St. Louis, Matt and I went over everything at his house, and I drove the car 900 miles without stopping home.
Matt wanted the car to go to somebody that would appreciate it and run it. Well, I promised him I would. I woke up today and just laid in bed from exhaustion. This evening, I decided to get up and go run the 1/8 mile track on the wide 19 inch front and back tires on the conservative but very nice 91 tune. The goal was only too see where it was at MPH wise. I didn't strap on my 17's, both amps and subwoofer were still in the car, along with my little carry on suitcase. The car also has a 6 point, so it was probably 3600+ pounds with me in it.
I ran a 6.9@114 and a 7.2@113 hot lapping, on the 91 tune still.
I'm now a believer in the small cube, big boost cars for the 1/4. The MPH was great for the tune, weight, High DA, etc. I have a nitrous express plate kit that I'm putting on the car. For street racing in Houston, and our airfield events, I believe you have to have plenty of torque from a roll. But the car runs great the way it is. Couldn't be happier and have got so many compliments on the car.
This week, I will be adding a full C16 tune to the car, and remove the air filter to see how much is left in it before the nitrous. Then I'll probably go run the car on on 17 inch drag radials. I'm pretty sure after the retune it should be close to 150mph off the bottle.

That didn't take long! Those 19's never seemed to hook out of the hole. I am so glad that you got the car. It hurt watching it leave. I got 2 calls from people asking if I sold it. They saw you leave my town.

Thanks, Matt. I know it's bitter sweet, and I'm hoping the C7 issue gets worked out for you. I saw your neighbors out, and I sat in the neighborhood planning my course to Houston so I'm sure they saw me. I ended up taking highway 69 in Oklahoma, which was a big mistake. 55-60mph, horrible roads, towns every 20 miles, etc. The route trough Arkansas was only 10 miles further.
I made some full 3-4 gear pulls when I got in Houston at 4am all the way up to redline on toll roads before I pulled in home. At Sea Level, I saw 25psi and AFR was a very conservative 10.5 all the way up. I put the car in competitive driving mode and no abs/traction control issues. I lowered the tire pressure to 16 psi because I played with launching the car at 35psi and noticed some wheel hop(expected on 19's). I didn't want to chance it, so lowered the tire pressure and eased the car out on my passes with an easy slip. First pass was a 1.7 60ft, and I could have gone 1.6's on the 19's but didn't want to push it. I will with my 17's and more sidewall to help cushion the hit. But the car hooked up fine.
Thanks again!

Welcome back into the game! Beautiful car, for sure.
Matt, sorry to see your car go. Don't be a stranger.

That's a good car right there.. Its obviously built and tuned right to handle back to back hwy pulls at 25 psi on pump gas...
113 mph with the MN12 trans is flying in the 1/8. That car will run 152-153 mph as it sits at RPR...
I'm sub'd for your dyno numbers as is and the C16/no filter pulls...
I bet youre making 850+ as it sits.
You made a good purchase on that car, its great looking and runs awesome. We need pics of the engine and interior in here.
See you around soon Mark.

I remember a post that didn't really fit the FI section and someone told him "this ain't C5 General, things get done around here"

Thanks, Arnold. How's your car running these days? Are you running next month or are you done at 215? Since my Texas Mile Build debacle years ago, I haven't thought about it but this car will be ready completely from all the suspension mods/etc with the bottle. I was just overlaying Steve's old D1 346 dyno with my current 91 dyno.
I miss the Goliad days big time.

I did sign up to run the mile in October. Will probably have to use a different car. I am satisfied with 215 in the mile, Not trying to kill myself. 190's to 215 is a big difference.
Steve's C5 went 190.? with the normal 6 speed, Same gear as my C6 Z06, 745 whp. Ed ran his C5 Z06, Big engine with N2O. Ran a 198.? 6speed C5 transmission. I think 7200 rpm at the end.
If you are going to run Nitrous, I would add a NANO system.
Looking forward to seeing yours run.

Thanks, Arnold. It will be boost plus spray. Yeah, I was overlaying Steve's dyno on the 190-191 runs because we had that long Texas Mile thread on hp vs tq in the C6 section to hit 200mph years ago.
I'll probably register for the Spring. It's one of those "official" things to cross off my bucket list.(200mph standing mile)

It is nice to be in the 200 club. I actually am able to purchase the Fast Pass this time because of my license and running 215. They said only about a dozen qualify for this Fast lane.
A lot of people think it is easy to break 200 until they try and do it. It is not just about having the power. Beeville is also a tough track compared to Golaid.

Thanks, Chris.
No doubt Arnold. I've been down Beeville in a modified 5.0 on 4 passes before the transitions were improved. The idea of 200+MPH at the time was a little scary in thought.
You guys all ran great that day you hit 215. Conditions and wind were great. I'm pretty sure my old C6 would have been close to 200mph off the bottle and probably 205 on it, but that's just bench racing.

Me too man... I lived out there twice a year from 07-10... Lots of friends/comeradery.... After the switch to Beeville and several of my friends crashing, I gave it up.... I may would entertain the idea of running the Houston Mile if they ever work that out. After Bill Warner died, I kind of lost the drive to push that hard....
I didn't even have it on kill (I underestimated what sprockets I would need).. Bike would probably run 240 as it sits today but... There is such a HUGE difference from 200 to 225, I couldn't imagine going from 225 to 240..... I just don't think I have it in me to try it.
I stick to 1/4 mile and 200 mph top speed runs now days.
Mark, hit me up when you decide to go to RPR, you're more then welcome to run on my CCW front runners if you want. I'll probably try to get back to the track in Nov/Dec when it cools off..
