Default Returning a z06 back to stock from a ProCharger

What is all involved? Looking at buying a ProCharged c5 z06. Car does not have a wideband installed, just a boost gauge. It drove great though. Not sure how long the kit has been installed for, but I believe quite some time. He recently had a Chevy dealership replace the fluids and the belt on the ProCharger.

Might look at returning it back to stock in the future or maybe getting it re-tuned. Not sure what the Vette guys tune with or what I would need to bring it back to stock. Factory air intake, injectors what else?

you're kidding right? Why would you want to return it to stock? You like to go slow?

actually yeah it kinda is... why not just buy a stock one if you don't want all the go fast stuff?... I bought mine stock just to have a fresh start but I couldn't see myself going backwards... honestly I think it would be more work that what it's worth, I only see people demodding to get as much back as possible before selling the car

If this car drives right I'd keep it the way it is with the Pro Charger on.

If you're thinking about taking the Pro Charger off this car I'd keep looking for a stock Z06. They're out there. Just keep looking.

True. They are mid to low 13 second cars that trap close to 110. Nothing really spectacular, but would hold its own on 90% of the cars on the road.

ProCharger would help the other 10%

So what tuning device is most popular with the c5 z06's? Since I would need one to keep things in check along with a wideband?

I think HP Tuners is the reference tuning package.

I'd suggest taking he car to a Vette expert and let them thoroughly check it out.

Correctly, mildly built and tuned, extra gauges are not really necessary unless you just want to monitor the engine in case something goes wrong.

Will do. I will keep the ProCharger on it.

13's?.....With a horrible driver These are mid 12sec cars with a decent driver, and low 12's/high 11's with a great driver.

Please tell me that's not regular hose clamps? If so replace those with t bolt clamps on the entire system minus the inlet side, also the stock manifolds and remove the air pump then get it retuned. Also do you even have a breather of some kind for the PCV system?

My bad. I was looking at base non z06 times. Very impressive for a stock z06! I don't believe those times are slow at all. Makes me want to just get a stock one. I am pretty sure on getting his ProCharged one though. So clean. 55k miles, clean title. Older guy bought it with the ProCharger already installed from a used car lot like 3 years ago. He barely drove it. According to the CarFax he registered it in 5/18/2011 with 47,500 miles. Car has new tires all around. 2 NEW factory chrome 18's, New battery, ProCharger fluid serviced along with new belt, has Magnaflow catback, Hurst STS, TCS module replaced via dealership $1200~, Also door modules replaced via dealership. $1000~. I believe he said all the fluids were replaced too, going to need to see the paper work on that. Rear diff is clean as hell. Got him down to $19900 for it. Good deal?

Regular hose clamps are fine. I had a Neon SRT-4 that was holding 24lbs on a factory worm clamps. Yes I did boost leak test it regularly. There are built cars out there with factory worm clamps. T-bolts if torqued down too much can actually bend the piping. Plus they are PITA in hard to reach areas. Been there done that. Not sure about the air pump. No idea on the PCV system at all either. But good looking out, I will check those things out.

That is an old Procharger system too, not that it doesn't work fine (if no belt slip, and low boost), there are just newer, better systems.

It looks like a smaller Reichard Racing pulley. The previous owner might have been fighting belt slip. What size pulley and boost? PCV system doesn't need a breather to work... It may just have a check valve or is routed to the head unit as many kits are. Where is that BOV hose routed?

Haven't had a chance to look at the boost gauge when going WOT. First RWD v8 car. COMPLETELY different feeling. The vacuum line on the BOV right? Should go to a throttle body source. I will check it out. Thanks man.

Also haven't checked the PCV line yet either.

That setup is just like mine. That bov hose is going to a vacuum block tied into the brake booster. I made 557 rwhp at 6 lbs with a 4.00 pulley. Now have a 3.70 pulley, so should be into the 600's. It is an older setup, but seems to work quite well.

Sorry, not the vacuum line... I'm talking about the larger hose that is zip-tied underneath the vacuum line.
