Just looking at Thompsons website. What is the difference between the regular short block and the premium?

I need a 347 here pretty soon and Im trying to get my ducks in a row.

I'm sure Kyle will chime in but 99% sure standard is a seasoned reconditioned block while premium is new from GM. The warranty ( with oil pump purchase) applies to either block so it really doesnt matter.

I will be doing the standard aluminum 347 forged short block from Thompson this winter. Just getting my Ducks lined up as well lol

I have an AES 390 and I'm very happy with it. However, don't deal with Brian he will be the downfall of that company.

I helped a buddy put a Thompson 370 in his vette and it has held up good with a D1Sc on it.

Both blocks were packaged very well and secure. My buddy had to call Thompson a few times and customer service was great.

AES left the oil pump drive off the crank, but sent one out next day.

However I've called them a few times since and feel like I'm getting a rehearsed message (Always from Brian).

If there is anything else we can help you with please feel free to give us a call or email us any time.

I will agree, Brians communication has not been the greatest lately. They do awesome work though.

AES is currently building me a motor. I've talked to Brian a couple times and I've yet to see any issues brewing. The build should be complete by the 2nd week of January so I guess we'll see what happens.

So far so good. A couple bumps in the road due to the extreme cold and blizzard like conditions we experienced for a while.

I have been debating an AES iron block vs an ERL aluminium. Not sure which one I am going to chose yet.

Go iron. It's cheaper.

If going with AES...just dont expect anything in a hurry.

I waited nearly 9 months for my first rotating assembly, over a year for them to send me a block I bought and had worked on and just recently with some rebuild parts..I paid for them over 3 months ago and only yesterday did some arrive, but the head studs are missing and as usual no response from Mike to emails.
If it wasnt for threatening to revoke the card payment I'd probably still have nothing.

I paid in full mid November so the parts would be here before Xmas, and still I'm missing parts.

Never ever again will I buy from AES. If they dont respond about the missing head studs, looks like it will have to be credit card company again.

I've been wayyyyy more than patient.

I wont argue that they may be capable of good work, but their customer service sucks.

Looks like I've been convinced! I will probably buy it first thing next year. I ended up buying a house this year instead of a short block

I ordered and paid for my motor just before the 1st of the year. Brian said I should have it the Saturday the 28th of February. That's a complete shortblock and set of heads ported and ready to bolt on.
