Default Simple FI build advice?

I'm about to start ordering parts for my 98 C5 stock bottom end LS1 and wanted to go over my parts list with you guys so you can give me advice or maybe save a brother a few $$. Was originally going to do heads and cam but that all has changed lol

Parts List:

1. A&A super charger Si trim but may do a T trim.

2. Auto Meter fuel and boost guage.

3. Alky meth injection running 100% meth.

4. PAC 1218 vavle springs.

5. Comp cams rocker arm trunion kit.

6. Lg super pro headers 1 7/8 with 3" x pipe no cats.

7. Xs power 3" exhaust.

8. Will have Futral motor sports tune the car out of Walker LA.

Am I missing anything or anything you would do different? What kind of power do you think will be made with this setup at 10psi?

Do the T trim. Worth the upgrade.

Car should make 650 whp with no problem.

Get some good R compound tires if you don't have them . If you are going to buy all the exhaust new, might as well do the kooks 2 inch primary headers.

If the car is a manual transmission and you don't have a good clutch you may want to get one of those too. Mantic9000 twin is your ticket.

It is a 6 speed im running a clutchmasters 6 puck clutch now it has maybe 1000 miles on it. Think it will hold?

And why such big primary's for the headers on the 346?

Have another question also. I've heard of guys pulling of the timeing cover and putting lock tite on the cam bolts when going FI is this needed I really hate to tear the motor down that far and not swap the cam.

Motor has 60k think stock oil pump and timing chain are good also?

It should. How is that clutch working for you? Does it chatter? I had one in another platform and I hated it.

I'm assuming your running their FX400 the 6 puck single disk clutch. It's hard to say yes or no. I'd think it will hold but I've yet to see a guy here in the FI section who is running one. (That's not to say there isn't) I just don't know of any. What's the torque rating on that clutch?

Do you plan on drag racing or just the occasional freeway blast?

You could do that. Mine is tied down with mechanics wire.

You should get a small cam I would if I was you. :-) it don't have to be anything big.

Pm sent.

another bit of good advice that was mentioned to me and I will pass it on, go with alky control for the meth kit and go ahead and upgrade to the dual nozzle kit but don't get the map sensor that they normally include in the kit... subtracting the map sensor makes the cost of the dual nozzle kit about the same as the single nozzle and it also simplifies the install... you can just tap into the existing map sensor on the back of the intake and run that wire inside the car to the pac unit... going with a 2 bar speed density tune is also a good idea

My car is close to what your planning with exception I added one of Englandgreens cam kits, which was money well spent IMO, you will upgrade your oil pump, timing set springs ect, really freshin everything up. I also kept stock heads and after coming back later 4-5 months and adding a boosta pump and hardwire Kit on top of the upgraded fuel pump with fine tuning she pulled just under 650 at the wheels, she's been running great for going on a couple of years now without anything but fluid changes.
Still gets great gas milage and its a blast to drive.
Good luck you'll really enjoy the changes.

I wasn't going to do a cam is there any problems with leaving it stock and doing the above?

The clutch does chatter it takes some getting use to for sure.

It's just a street car may never even go to the drag strip.

If you are looking for 500 whp then you can probably get away without putting a cam in the car. If you are like the rest of us I'm sure you will want more later.

you don't have to do a cam now if you only want 500rw but its easy now and you will want one later so for $200 for a used blower cam I would do it!

If doing a cam, there is no reason not to use a comp lock plate. Its like 12 bucks.

Sorry for the lousy pic... must have been drunk that day.

Pinning the crank is hardly "almost there" for doing a cam install.. IMO anyways

I think it is he's changing the valve springs too. Pulling the rack to pin the balancer to me is the hard part..

I agree it's quite a bit more work, but you've saved a few hours of work already, so if you're on the fence, that might help make the decision.
