What?? You don't need Meth to hit your goal but it justs adds more insurance. Why wouldn't you want to run meth anyway?

Im 606/531 currently without meth. Been this way for about 2 years and 15k miles

I did just purchase meth to push it harder.

I wouldnt push past 600 or so with pump only. Make sure you have an excellent tuner. Meth does provide quite a bit of safety

I would go with a A&A and ECS kit... for a stock LS1 I would not go with much more than 540RWHP without Meth

My A&A kit is running the minimum amount of boost for daily driving and feels great. I was always a PD blower guy, but this A&A kit really has me thinking differently. I am making around 570hp and 510 torque at the crank.(stock LS1) Plenty for what I need, which is daily driving and no drag racing. Good luck.
This sounds like just what I might looking for.
My car is in the shop getting a clutch rated for under 650hp. The builder isn't pushing anything but I had been leaning toward heads and a cam because I'm not going to the strip with her and that is what I have in my truck and I'm pretty happy with it. I'm comfortable playing between 2 and 4k.

Can you PM me? I have some more questions and don't want to junk up the thread with chatter.
Thanks
Michael

My tuner said it adds engine wear. Besides I want a setup that takes minimal maintenance. I don't want to tune it for meth then have to worry about meth. All I want is 550/550. Want safety and longevity with as little worries as possible. I have had vortech and Procharger before and didn't need or want meth. The vortech fell short on torque. The Procharger had a bunch of other mods which I bought already on it and I don't want to do a bunch of mods on this one.

Personally I'd go ECS

That's the way I was leaning until someone there told me their horsepower tops out at 500hp with only their kit and no meth. If they could get me to 550 rwhp with close to that in torque, it would be end thread.

Their kit is capable of something like 800RWHP with the base kit (or at least the C6 ones are.. and I'm almost sure they use the same head unit on the C5 ones)..

My guess is whoever told you 500hp is either saying that because they are trying to sell you something else OR 500hp is more of a safe limit on the stock bottom end

Their kit is without a doubt capable of more than you're looking for

I'd call Matt @ FSP or just call ECS direct and get their opinion direct

Timz16,

That is incorrect about the power tops out at 500HP on their kit. The ECS kit is EASILY capable of far more than that. We had a bone strock C6Z make over 620RWHP on crappy CA gas (Limited to 91 octane)

If your looking for a ECS kit let me know as we sell quite a few of them.

AND we offering 0% financing for up to 1 year on them

Are there a lot of factory long block LS6's, stock manifolds, pump gas(not E85), no meth running around making 550/550 to the tires? If I understand correctly that's what the OP is looking to do?

That is why I posted what I needed to do with a Maggie to get his req'd power. Short of saying not going to happen with a PD unit.

Mike I am glad we talked. The clarification is that the rwhp limitation is due to the stock LS1 block. You said that 520 was the max safe on a stock block if I understood you correctly.

I will have to think about this. I don't want to do a bunch of mods to the engine. I may just put this c5 up for sale and bite the bullet on a note with a c7. The ECS kit puts out about 600rwhp from what I have seen and it is supposedly safe. I've already had 550 rwhp and it is hard to go back.

It really depends on what you want to do... if you get a C7 your going to end up modding it any ways AND you'll have a nice car payment again

Yes of course but the issue is what is a safe level of rwhp??? It looks like ECS says 600rwhp is certainly safe and achievable with their base kit. With meth and headers they reach around 750 rwhp on the c7. So in your experience, what is the highest rwhp you can safely go in a C7? I know this could be posted in the c7 forum, but it is relevant here in the decision whether or not to mod the c5. Thanks!

A C5 on here has hit 800whp on stock block. Safe is relative.

I think a restricter plate w smaller pulley will help w TQ.

plenty of guys with 550 or more on a stock block but most of the higher #'s are more than likely running meth also... is there a reason why you are opposed to running meth?
