Burning Brakes
clearance
.006 depending where they took measurement .
you should be around .001-.003 I am at .004 17 lb boosted.
it don't much matter, put it together and go have fun

its .006 and 1 was 007 in the center of bore were the skirt mainly rides...
more of a taper up top were it was .009
so theres a little bit of disortion
my machinist said it would work but may see some blowby and noise
to make it perfect he said and i agree would be to step up to a 4.075 pistons..hone cylinders perfect and set it to .004-.004.5
i decided to send pistons back and reorder since they were off the shelf
I did have blowby before refresh
he does hone w ls deck plates and my head studs

ISIS SUCKS FAT CHOAD
I think the factory spec is 19- 22 ten thousanths.
If your machinist recommends changing it, I'd do it.
It don't seem that he has anything to gain for having you make the switch.
I'd say it's new piston time.

Will be loose Bret, But at least will not be hurt from not being on the other end with boost or NOS on the car. Plus his motor is what it is now with .006.
The way he has been talking in here on his car more than not will have to refreshing it with new pistons again after the 2nd season with it on the street and track.
Give us your experience with what you have your motor build spec. I am not to old to learn something & retain it..

it will be a tighter engine when done but wont have excessive blow by...no more leaks..coolant wont be seaping out of heads due to wear n bolts..parts will be torqued rather than overtorqued..stock oil pump is in garbage.. backwards rear main seal is gone...arp bolts throughout even waterpump/oilpan...was a time bomb
"ususally they run best before they pop"
loose is power brett and i agree on this
hopfully i dont loose to much power with a tighter stronger engine 417 now

its gotta get retuned anyway with new ls2 inake and ls3 throttle body
so maybe 1 or 2 pulls on the dyno to set the rings in at ECS

wiseco shipped pistons yesturday most shortest 3-4 weeks ever..Im going to asume someone ordered and canceled and i was gifted
i think were shooting for solid straight cylinders and .004-.005 piston to wall

Drifting
Last set of Wiescos I measured were exactly .0035 under the published bore spec. We added .001 extra clearance for a turbo engine being run on e85. So ~.0045 is what we ended up with and that engine is quiet. I would probably add up to another .001 extra to that number for a gas or higher output combo over 1000, but it all depends.
