Very good question.

I would like to add some:

- what are the symptoms of having too hot plug
- what are the symptoms of having too cold plug
- what are the symptoms of having too much gap
- what are the symptoms of having too little gap

I'm sure there are lots of threads saying the(ir) plugs/gaps work just fine.

So please, ask those questions from the experts as well.

I'm sure you'll find the right answer.

Iridiums

Most of the 1,k rwhp guys are running the BR7EF

gap I started at 30 went down to 26 runs good at that.

For my combo I use the NGK BR7EF and NGK B8EFS for cylinder 7.

I started my gap at .035 but after playing with it I found my combo liked the gap best at .020

9.5 : 1 403 CID engine, AFR 225 heads mild cam and YSi at about 22 psi or so.

those are the same as tr7s i would believe just the tip is non protruding...for a street car i would think the tr7s would respond better not being into boost much

Not towards you or anyone as such - and still trying to be pain in the *** here.

My point is something like this:

- I have no problems with plugs I have now
- I have no problems with my 1 7/8 headers
- I have no problems with 14 psi of boost
- I have no problems with 17 degrees of timing at WOT
- I have no problems with...anything in my engine combination...etc.

Not a single person in this thread have posted gains (or losses) after changing their plugs or gaps.

Or rationale behind their plug selection.

It is of course nice that certain plug/gap works fine.

So what's ok for OP? Without knowing the details of the engine, it's difficult to say. At least I don't know.

Without changing anything in my tune my car picked up 9 peak hp changing gap from .035 to .020 I didn't let the car cool off. I put on gloves pulled hot *** plugs adjusted gap fired car right back up and pulled.

I didn't mess with it too much as for the plug gap. It was just a recommendation by a couple of people so I tried it. It could have been the car may have cooled off just enough. I'm not sure.

Now because I have relatively unrestricted access to a chassis dyno, once I get a few bugs sorted out, I'll be going back just to expand my knowledge on what works and what don't for me.

I'm glad you're doing that.

And please remember to post some results as well.

Sometimes I feel googling - a thing we all do all the time - has gone too far.

Just because there are many posts/links/etc. with something doesn't mean it will be a final answer. Or even a right answer.

Try googling "a safe tune". And continue with "#7". :-)

That would be cool. Like I said mine seems to be pretty happy at .35 out of the box but it may be better around .25 Looking forward to your results. I wonder if Doug or anyone else will join in with some experience.

I wanted to try the spark plugs that come with the base ECS Kit, but I wasn't sure if I would get the ones listed on their website or a set of auto autolites since the price of the base C5 Kit went down.

I think TR6 will cover 90% of the applications here. I've tried BR7EF too but they are no bueno with E85
