Default Important Info for those with Direct Drive, Flip Drive, Secondary Drive

I notice the rubber on bearings in the drum that is ribbed for 2 belts were torn and worse for wear. So I pressed out the bearings and ordered some replacements. After noticing that the power steering pulley wouldn't line up. I removed the pulley and put a laser alignment tool on the alternator to the crank then on the drum. It was off by more than a rib.

Thinking I didn't have the bearings fully seated, I removed them and inspected the bore and bearings. Then reinstalled them. Still over a rib off.

Long story short I had to add .170" of shims to make the drum line up with the alternator and PS pulley.

Hopefully this some save someone some time in the future.

That pulley on my secondary drive is cogged/ribbed since I had ECS convert it before I installed the assembly. I had to shim that pulley .050" to have it properly align with the other pulleys after confirming positioning with the laser. Everything else lined up correctly. This was on a new system that had not been run yet.

Bret this is your old DD. You modified it to work with an iron block.

I just checked my DP Direct drive last night after calibrating my laser to 4'. All lined up spot on.

Never has an issue with the Dallas Performance unit. I just removed and reinstalled after adding 6 rib to the a/c setup.

If you didn't replace the bearings you wouldn't have the same issue I did.

I remember that.

Never had to play with the bearings, although I saw them installed once, using a hot plate.

Sorry to bring this back up but what bearings did you use to replace the old ones? I'm getting s nasty a screeching noise and when I spray the pulley with the hose, it goes away. Not sure if it's bearing issue or misaligned.
