They're actually fiberglass construction with Carbon fiber top veneer = heavy hood

A real all carbon fiber constructed hood will start at $2,500.

Got my hood weighed myself on digital scale then weighed again holding the VIS hood 33.5 pounds difference. Did the same thing with my stock hood, 33.5 pounds.

That's good to know.

My point was, a true CF hood should be lighter, like 20 pounds lighter

Post a pic of your new hood.

I had to notch mine to clear my Edelbrock Pro-Flo intake and added heat extractor vents to it. I still like the looks of it and quality after hacking it up.

The 4inch carbon fiber cowl. No heat extractors. Drag racing was fine but put me on edge at the end because you could see the hood raising and flexing due to the air speed and pressure at 125mph. When I run 1/2 mile airstrip races I switch back to the own hood for my own comfort due to a lot less flex. I remember an article in gm high tech years ago of a participate running a cowl carbon In a top speed shoot out which pretty much Disintegrated during a sub 160 run

Yoy are right a true CF hood would be much lighter but the 1800 to 2000 dollars I saved on this hood I can spend on more HP.
Here is the pic you requested.

Your hood must be different than mine. Mine is a VIS 4" cowl. It weighs the exact same as my stock hood. It seems to be quite sturdy. After reading your post about your hood I mounted my gopro to the top of my windshield pointed at the hood. I then made a 160+ mph run. I did not see any movement in the hood.

Trying to link pics with my phone. I cut the rear cross brace and installed a support bridge to clear my Pro-Flo intake. Then I added Runcool extractor vents to the cowl sides
