That is what I'm running (MTX-L). It was off by .01 lambda.. changed the offset value so that it matched and never an issue since

Same here. With the AEM I had to take phone pics of the WB and HPT and change the offset pretty much daily. I know the older Innovate stuff was problematic but I have not had issue one with the MTX-L.

Are you familiar with the newer 4.9 sensors? I have read their calibration (or lack thereof) and response times are way better than the 4.2's that MTX-L uses. But, can't really justify changing when what I have is working

If you don't plan on tuning with it and you want it for the visual appearance and occasional sanity check, as well as having the boost gauge in a single gauge/display combo, then go with the AEM. I'm not saying you can't tune with it. There are people who have them and they work fine for them. It seems to be hit or miss with the accuracy based on my experience. It was the same way with the LC1 for me. When it worked, it worked well but I had two controllers just take a dump on me. I don't have my AFR500 installed in my car, it's set up to be a portable unit. However, I did think about buying a second AFR500 and seeing if I could have Denis over at double D mods modify my radio bezzle to fit the AFR500 display/Controller.
Someone in here mentioned the option of an NTK sensor as an option with the AFR500. As a standard sensor the AFR500 comes with a Bosch LSU 4.2 sensor. If I'm not mistaken, This sensor is also is what most of the new innovate stuff comes with as well and I think they have the option to go with an NTK sensor as an upgrade. It's also worth mentioning that there are three NTK sensors you can get with the AFR500. As defined by ballenger motorsports They are the Production Grade, Calibration Grade and Lab Grade sensors. The NTK upgrade sensor most get is the Calibration Grade and it runs about 150 bucks for the sensor. However, at a special request you can get the Lab Grade NTK sensor. This is a $450 upgrade and is a standard sensor on the high dollar units such as the Lambda Pro (a $5,000 Wideband). This is more than most would ever need for tuning the stock VCM but it's nice to know the option is there. I personally Have the NTK Calibration Grade sensor.
Another note worth mention with the afr 500 is that you can actually send it to ECM (the manufacturer of the controller) they will convert it to the AFM 1600L. For 200 bucks. This will allow the unit to show lambda on the display. What's even cooler than that and the reason I did it is they actually extend the range of the controller itself. ECM is a no bs company they build the best of the best. They are the place GM ford and dodge Ect turn to when they need exhaust gas analyzers and widebands. They have a quick turnaround and great customer service.
