Default throwout bearing/slave

Just wondering what peoples opinion on the condition of my tb/slave. i never saw them new so i have nothing to compare them to. they probably have 8k miles or so but if they appear to be good i see no reason to change them out. i had no noises and no issues..
the only thing i really noticed and you will see in the vid is the play one of the line fittings has, it does not leak but I'm unsure if it is normal or something to worry about.

If you got it apart, $125 can give you piece of mind to swap out the slave and release bearing now. Some think it's a waste of money (If it ain't broke, don't fix it). I have a different way of looking at things. The labor alone will take your time and money later down the road.

If it wer eme, I would replace it now and have peace of mind.

Oh, and add a speed bleeder while you're at it.

it does have the speed bleeder, this was replace about 8k miles ago, I'm just not positive on how to change it thus if its good id rather not mess with it. I'm usually like you and replace wear items

Ill back up what Wickedfrc said. I usually replace them everytime I pull the motor or trany unless its never been run. Its cheap insurance not to have any issues by the next time you have to service something IE:clutch etc... But the play is normal they all have that as its just a sealed oring on the fitting. So its a judgement call on your part. You use it and have no issues - glad I didn't waist the money. Don't change it and it screws up - I'm a dummy for not changing it while I was there etc... I justify it by saying I've waisted more money on dumb stuff on my car so I alway just throw a new one in it. GL! Your not going to make a wrong decision really cause there are no guarantee's either way.

if you do end up replacing it I would recommend bleeding the clutch with the inspection cover off when you get the torque tube back in place but before you tighten everything up that way you can verify that the bleeder isn't leaking before you put everything back together

it's just 2 10mm bolts and it slides off and you unscrew the bleeder and replace the bleeder on the new slave with the speed bleeder then bolt it back up, easy peasy

yes factory one works fine... you bleed it through the valve in the engine bay just as you would do the brakes... mine has a speed bleeder in it so I can just pump the pedal myself until the air is removed... if yours doesn't have a speed bleeder then you will have to open the valve, pump the pedal to the floor, then have someone close the valve and repeat until all air is removed... again, just like bleeding brakes

Yes, looks stock

Replace it. I don't care if it has 1000 miles on it, I'd replace it anyways.

And install a remote bleeder while you're at it. I'm using ECS's and haven't had any problems.. some of the others leak, so be careful on which one you get.

If you bleed it without the clutch in place it can over extend and leak if the travel goes past the seals correct? I had this happen to a new unit however pushed it back down in correct area and it appears to be leak free. I may replace under warranty just incase but I doubt the seal is damaged if it is pushed back into place and currently not leaking. It should not go past seal with clutch installed.

A member on LS1 GTO cut this up to show how they work.
The slave portion is most relevant for us.

Get a remote bleeder in case you ever want or need to bleed it. It's about impossible without one

The slave cylinders use a connection that is supposed to not get air in when you connect it, so I didn't bleed the last c5 I did and it was fine. It should come already full with fluid.

I put a remote bleeder on my c6 anyways and I'm glad I did.

If it is a GM one they are supposedly pre bled so you wouldn't have to bleed it. But after its installed and you get a feel for the petal you can make that decision since you have a remote bleeder etc... If it feels spongy or the release point isn't where you remember it etc... I't won't hurt to bleed it.
