My clutch gave up!
It was bound to happen sooner or later. No surprises but disappointed just the same. Started my first run and went through the waterbox and I noticed it felt funny. I wanted to run at least 10's but no way once the light turned green it felt like mush and no matter what I tried it was pitiful all the way down the track. Only posted a 13.5 at 114mph... heck I think there was a Prius that did better.
So here's the question...should I go back with what I had, OEM LS7 set-up and get another 2 years of running? Or spend the extra $$$$ and get something for the 700-800hp and still get a DD friendly driver?
To be, or not to be?

A lot like the Mantic 9000.
I've also heard good things about the new Monster clutches.. they use the LT1 twin disk as the basis and have different friction materials for different power levels if I understand it correctly. LT1sc I believe is the one you'd like. Do some searching

Rst/rsx can't beat the price for a twin and rebuildable with feels like stock pedal pressure. The rst is around 600 or 700. I'll have a rst coming off in a few weeks if you want one for cheap to rebuild. I bought a new rxt

Haven't McLeod's been pretty hit or miss for some people?

You know the drill, things go broke when the piggy bank is empty.
Here's the video of the first and only pass with the blown clutch.

Melting Slicks
never had an issue with my rxt. my rst i wasn't to happy with, seems its limit is more like 600whp.. you could smell it slipping on hard pulls, while you didn't notice the slip you could smell it. my rxt has be great with no issues and has been holding up to 700-800whp great. i just sent it out for a refresh, not bad getting a brand new clutch basically for $500

Just finished installing the monster LT1-SC yesterday in the car. Had a LS7 clutch that wasn't holding anymore. Haven't really had time to drive it since the weather is wet & nasty right now. But moving it around at the shop it feels really nice. LOL I'll let you know how it is on the road when it drys up so I can get it out.

Every clutch manufacturer has had issues. My C6 had a McLeod in it at 850/800 and was the chit. Slipped it on the stock driveline to 1.4-1.5 60fts and romped on it daily.
My C5 has one too. Drives great. This one has a little chatter to it, but I've noticed that the C5 and C6 are different. Drove it in 900 miles from St. Louis and hit the track that same day. Made 2 passes and slipped great at 830ishrwhp. I should be making 900's soon and expect it to work great. ACT makes a good organic twin, but it's horrible if you do any drag racing.
I just go off of 60ft's and not breaking parts from my own experience. I tore up a DYAD in a 1000+CTSV at the track, but haven't tried their new non organic one. I have no experience with the Mantic at the track or the Monster. I'll probably chat with Chris (pre-z06) about their clutch.
Any clutch can cut a 60ft with slicks and a heavily beefed up driveline. The ones that can do it on stock stuff are what I like. Turbo-Geist(stock LS1, TT running 9's) myself and a few guys that have or had 6 speed records have had success with the RXT.

You can hear the clutch slip in one of my many mid/upper 9 second runs here.
You can also see the clutch working on Jared's fastest C5/C6 any model corvette 6 speed working.
Also, here I am recording Ben's first 9 second pass on the stock bottom end/head LS1. You can hear right after the launch I say, "got it", then I repeat it again before he goes through the traps just from listening to the sound of the car.

At that power level you are definitely going to want a better clutch for longevity and performance. Check out our LT1-XX series they drive great, and will have the longest life of any aftermarket twin disc. Feel free to give us a call if want to go over specifics.
