Turbo filter! Has anybody tried it?
Hey guys, I saw a listing on the famous auction site regarding an item called a turbo filter. It basically replaces the dongle and the big filter with a mesh screen with built in filter. It's great for tight applications and was wondering if anybody has used one. Looks like a great idea , but not sure about it. Item number is 251828038513.

To call it a filter...is a massive stretch. But I guess it will filter better than mesh alone.
Can only imagine it flows and filters like **** all though having almost no surface area

I'll have some dyno test in 2 weeks, with and without filters. I don't expect the filter style to be that amazing, but they are a nice product and alternative for street use. When you want max power, just pull em off or swap in the screens.

When I index race & wanta slow the car down, first thing I do is install my wire mesh filter. As I recall it's worth 1/10

Someone needs to dyno the filter vs the screen vs nothing at all. I think the screen reduces too much surface area + creates turbulence.
I know everyone has a stiffy for them right now because its the current fad but I am really skeptical of the gains

Cant say much for a s/c setup but my last trip to the track I forgot to remove my air filter from the turbo and my ET less than .05 difference and the speed was no different at all. BTW my filter is tiny, 3-5/8" in length.

I'll dyno a filter, a MAXX and open. Then compare to my K&N run files. The mesh screens seemed flimsy and didn't fit well on my 2.75 inlets, so I sent the mesh screens back to exchange for the heavier MAXX. (Which aren't even available to order, but they offered to custom make some.) Corey from Turboguard has been great dealing with, and responds quickly to emails.

See my latest post for an update on these filters. I would wait and see if they develop an improved version.

If you want good air flow (less static pressure drop) across filter you need big holes (poor filtering) or more surface area with smaller holes. It is as easy as that! No way around it ... you can't use a flat filter media at the small opening and expect good flow, if it filters anything it will clog up in no time, just ask the ac man. Big filter area or no filter at all for good air flow!

Yep that pretty well sums it up. I had to try and the good news is they apologized and gave a full refund. I also noticed they removed the product from their website.
